University Human Resources projects pride and enthusiasm in support of the University’s mission and strategic plan by providing leadership, guidance and administration of classification, compensation, recruitment, payroll, benefits and employee/labor relations in a professional and dedicated manner to the Montana State University Bozeman campus, Agricultural Experiment Stations and Extension Services.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Human Resources Associate effectively provides and administers a variety of human resource processes for client groups for the Bozeman campus with a high level of customer service. Types of services provided by Human Resources and the HR Shared Services Center are:
Coordinate employee recruitment and hiring process including completion of new hire paperwork, workflow management through online recruiting system (Select Suite) to include metrics.
Coordinate compensation administration processes and paperwork, communicating and collaborating with HR colleagues and client departments.
Coordinate the onboarding of new employees to include new hire paperwork through the Orientations
Generate and/or create a variety of reports from the HR systems for HR and client departments use.
Provide payroll processing support answering phone calls, advising constituents of payroll processing deadlines, and other payroll associated duties.
Generating, reviewing, and approving/applying electronic personnel action forms (EPAF) for employee changes.
Prepare informational packets
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Progressively responsible administrative work experience with an emphasis on customer service in a fast-paced central office setting or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Demonstrated competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, email and internet. Microsoft Office software preferred.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Human resources experience in one or more areas, certification or Bachelor’s degree in human resources (or related field) or equivalent education and experience.
Experience in one or more of the following specialist areas: compensation, recruitment, benefits, or payroll
Demonstrated experience delivering training and presenting to small and large groups.
Demonstrated experience gathering and compiling information to analyze and evaluate complex matters.
Experience with human resources policies and procedures
The Successful Candidate Will
Be effective in interpersonal, listening and communications skills including the ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, students and applicants both in person and over the phone
Handle sensitive confidential situations and information
Possess excellent organizational skills and critical thinking skills in order to prioritize and manage several simultaneous projects with dynamic, and sometimes conflicting priorities while maintaining accuracy.
Analyze issues within the broader human resources context to identify shortcomings within a process providing integrated solutions to improve the quality of the process
Have the desire to increase knowledge, acquire new skills and take on new projects and challenges.
Develop expert-level knowledge of MSU employee human resources processes
Demonstrate knowledge of and skill in interpreting and applying state and federal statutes, University and departmental policies and procedures.
Represent the Office of Human Resources in a professional manner, appearance and a positive attitude to constituents across campus.
