NORTHWESTERN ENERGY Hydro Superintendent in BOZEMAN, Montana
Location open to: Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena or Missoula
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree or eight years of equivalent experience with five years hydro plant experience
- Budget, cost control, scheduling, reporting experience, familiarity with hydro power plant design
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Ability to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
- Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record
- Knowledge of applicable codes
- Available for 24 hour on call status per the business unit Supervisor-On-Call schedule throughout the year and is informally on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week
- Ability to lift and manipulate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
- Frequent travel up to 30% is required to support essential functions at assigned sites
- Ability to pass an employment physical, a drug test and a background check
- Ten years power generation experience preferred
- Five years supervisory experience preferred
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Demonstrate leadership consistent with NorthWestern Energy's code, values, policies, processes and controls
- Coordinate operation of assigned hydroelectric generating facilities with other business units, resource coordinators and marketing and trading functions
- Prepare monthly operating, safety and financial performance reports for hydroelectric generation operations
- Monitor the daily generation, plant status and hydraulic operations of the plants' generation and reservoirs in conjunction with the marketing and resource coordinators for efficient operation and regulatory compliance
- Plan, develop, prepare and manage capital, special maintenance and basic expense budgets for assigned hydro developments coordinated with hydro engineering, environmental, supervision and other plants in the hydro business
- Plan, schedule and conduct annual Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) operational inspections
- Responsible for actions stemming from inspections, maintenance of current records, and annual operational reporting for projects compliance with local, state, Federal agencies
- Coordinate plant personnel work schedules to insure adequate personnel coverage for regular, emergency and specific activity requirements
- Ensure employees performance results in maximum safe and efficient operation and maintenance of plants consistent with Company practices and policies
- Directly review and approve all time reporting, and employee expenditures to ensure accuracy and conformance with the union contract and Company policies
- Coordinate operational activities related to safety, license compliance and engineering for assigned sites
- Evaluate the condition of the hydro generation equipment and support systems on a progressive basis to effectively plan short term and long term maintenance activities to minimize impacts to generation while maximizing equipment conditions
- Maintain current and complete records of maintenance work for future planning
- Manage operations with operating personnel to identify trends to better plan and schedule work
- Supervisor responsibilities include participation in union negotiations, union issue resolution, personnel training and personnel selection
- Maintain situational and safety awareness and communicate to maintain safety and efficiency
- Complete required documentation and interact with the public
- Adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics
- Ensure self and other's actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives
Full-time position.
$102,200 - $153,400 annually, depending on experience.
