Brief Position Overview
This position will report to the Director at the Center for Biofilm Engineering ( CBE ) for overall information management as well as the Tech Development Lead. The position will be responsible to track and manage internal CBE data on interactions with academic, industrial, and government collaborations and projects and assist in maintenance and presentation of data. The position will also create and manage assessments of scientific and technological landscapes in research areas pertinent to the CBE together with subject matter experts. The position will also work within programmatic research teams to manage relevant information and data for research proposals, grants, projects, and publications.

General Statement
The Center for Biofilm Engineering at Montana State University, founded in 1990, is an interdisciplinary engineering research center dedicated to advancing research, education and technology related to microbial communities that form on surfaces. Inspired by fundamental discoveries, the CBE develops solutions to industrially relevant biofilm problems and engineers uses for beneficial microbial biofilms.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage CBE Publications.
Data mine and manage citations and scientific literature towards strategic goals and program development of the CBE .
Use current AI techniques to manage and mine information.
Assist in drafting project reports, proposals, and manuscripts for large, programmatic projects.
Manage the updating of the CBE annual reporting appendix.
Manage the IA Program database.
Compile and format presentation and poster abstracts for CBE semi-annual meetings.
Manage the CBE Personnel database.
Collect and manage data for research proposals, project reports, and publications.
Collect and manage data of CBE interactions, collaborations, education, and partnerships.
Assist with proposal writing and manuscript development.
Conduct literature reviews.
Assess Technology Landscapes.
Survey and summary of changing research fields.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in science- or engineering-related field or an equivalent amount of education and/or experience.
Two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) progressively responsible administrative work experience with an emphasis on information resources and customer service, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Demonstrated successful experience using large data sets to complete complex processes such as those that might be associated with this position’s duties with demonstrated competence maintaining records with a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail.
Demonstrated competence organizing and prioritizing multiple work assignments, meeting deadlines, and exercising adaptability to changing priorities while maintaining a positive, effective, and professional attitude.
Demonstrated competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, scientific literature, ontology, email and internet. Microsoft Office software preferred.
Demonstrated experience collecting, analyzing and managing data.
Demonstrated competence to maintain confidentiality of records and information when under scrutiny from outside individuals.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience with AI-assisted search and information management tools.
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science.
Experience working with federal, state, or private grants.
Knowledge of university procedures and policies or previous experience working in a higher education setting.
