General Statement

The Gianforte School of Computing serves more than 600 Montana State University students with computing-related degrees and minors. We aspire to serve 1,000 students in the future! The Outreach Coordinator will help us increase the number of future MSU students pursuing computing-related opportunities by spearheading outreach activities to K-12 students.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organize computing-related outreach events at K-12 schools

  • Develop inspiring computing-related K-12 outreach content

  • Deliver inspiring computing-related K-12 outreach content at K-12 schools and on campus

  • Produce reports that summarize the impact of the outreach

  • Perform other relevant duties as appropriate

    Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated experience developing presentations.

  • Experience in public speaking.

  • Experience in writing.

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience with the K-12 educational system.

  • Some knowledge of computer science or another technical area.

  • Demonstrated experience using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, email and internet. Microsoft Office software preferred.

  • Experience editing and managing web pages.

    Position Special Requirements/Additional Information

    The person in this position will work a varying schedule that may include evenings and occasional weekends as needed.

Must possess currently or be eligible to obtain a valid State of Montana Driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record (less than 12 points), or have other reliable means of transportation. Must have access to a vehicle to use for work (mileage will be reimbursed), and have minimum vehicle liability insurance. Do NOT send a copy of the driver’s license.
