General Statement
MSU Academic Technology and Outreach (ATO) develops and delivers continuing, professional and lifelong learning courses and programs for a wide variety of constituents. In addition ATO supports faculty and students in the effective use of instructional technology. The marketing specialist is critical to creating awareness for ATO courses, programs, and services supporting the education needs of lifelong learners.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and regularly update ATO marketing and communications plans and procedures in alignment with MSU’s branding guidelines as articulated by University Communications.
Design, produce, and disseminate marketing and communications materials for ATO courses, programs and services
Coordinate with MSU Communications and other campus communications and media professionals
Collaborate and consult with ATO and other constituents on marketing and communications needs
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, or related field
Demonstrated experience producing/writing effective marketing materials + 2 years minimum experience in a related position
Demonstrated experience with a variety of software for design of materials
Demonstrated experience supervising staff and working in close collaboration with other staff
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience preparing and producing effective marketing using social media tools
Experience working in a higher education setting
Experience preparing and presenting to a variety of audiences
The Successful Candidate Will
Ability to function successfully as a team member
Ability to collaborate with colleagues, collect input, and give constructive feedback
Ability to be creative and incorporate new forms of communication into an evolving media/marketing plan
