  • POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • POSITION SUMMARY

  • Perform clerical/clinical duties in a Urgent Care setting and provide assistance to the medical staff with the goal of increasing efficiency, provider productivity and patient satisfaction. Performs medical duties within the scope of a certified Medical Assistant and Limited Radiology Permit holder.

  • REQUIREMENTS

  • EDUCATION

  • Required:

    • Medical Assistant Certification through AAMA or AMT, Current CPR certification
  • Preferred:

    • Associate Degree/Medical Assisting
  • LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION

  • Required:

    • Medical Assistant Certification through AAMA or AMT, Current CPR certification
  • Preferred:

    • Limited License Radiology, ARRT
  • EXPERIENCE

  • Required:

    • Computer literacy
  • Customer Service Expertise

  • EHR experience

  • Experience working with protected health information

  • Medical Terminology proficiency

  • Clinic Care Routines

  • Preferred:

    • Two years medical/clinical office experience, Outpatient or Walk-In Clinic
  • KNOWLEDGE OF, SKILLS IN, ABILITY TO, COMPLEXITY AND DIFFICULY:

  • KNOWLEDGE OF:

    • Utilize computer skills - hardware basics and software programs including e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, and EHR
  • SKILLS IN:

    • Demonstrate proficiency in use of medical terminology
  • Maintain flexibility to adapt to a variety of work assignments, determining priorities while managing patient flow

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Utilize organizational skills and ability to multitask

  • ABILITY TO:

    • Demonstrate ability to pay close attention to detail, relating to patients and the maintenance of accurate medical records
  • Ability to react appropriately to emergency situations

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Ability to collaborate with providers and other clinical staff as appropriate when addressing simple and complex patient care

  • Perform activities that demonstrate work accountability

  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures, specific instructions, and guidelines

  • Awareness of proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste

  • COMPLEXITY AND DIFFICULTY:

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • 95% Time Spent -

  • Room patients, obtain and record histories, vital signs, medication lists, allergies, and test results in the patient medical record and refer information to the providers

  • Prepare exam rooms for use

  • Assist providers with procedures and perform related tasks as instructed

  • Perform ear wax removals, staple and suture removals

  • Dress wounds and incisions

  • Competent use of LifePack, microscope, nebulizer, pulse oximeter

  • Administer medications and immunizations

  • Obtain blood specimens, perform simple in-office lab tests, preparing specimens and requisitions for transfer to other labs

  • Take, record, and respond to phone messages

  • Relay patient test results and treatment recommendations to patients

  • Fax/phone/mail prescriptions, forms, and medical record reports

  • Schedule patient appointments, referrals, procedures, and tests, providing patients with pertinent information

  • Coordinate necessary pre-authorizations

  • Produce and manage tracking and referral reports

  • Scan reports into Medical Records

  • Maintain medical inventory and medications, assisting with all vendor requests

  • Monitor refrigeration temps, oxygen tanks, and autoclave

  • Monitor and maintain a variety of medical equipment including, LifePack, microscope, nebulizer, pulse oximeter

  • Oversee daily sterilization process for supplies and instruments

  • Interact with other medical offices and care providers

  • 5% Time Spent -
