Job Description

Job Summary:

Master of all skills required to consistently demonstrate expertise when building laser opto-mechanical sub-assemblies across all product lines in production. Has fully developed the skills and knowledge using lasers to build and align any complex assembly. Eminently skilled in troubleshooting and subassembly rework techniques and abilities. Work with engineering to create, test and modify production and rework processes and procedures. Assists others in assembly methods, techniques and production related problems. Is exceptionally skilled to make a quality control decision on conforming/non-conforming components and qualified to develop inspection guidelines to uphold the highest level of production standards. Some products may require performance of associated tasks in a Class 1000 Cleanroom environment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assembly of complex and laser aligned subassemblies while following all published work instructions and established safety practices

  • Operation of all test equipment, instruments, and lasers needed during subassembly builds and alignment

  • Use and set up of beam lines and calibration of work stations to support active alignment assemblies.

  • Reworking and troubleshooting techniques and problem solving.

  • Produce production related documents of any kind – work instructions, spreadsheets, etc

  • Responsible for the transfer of knowledge and imparting the highest work standards to be used in all facets of OMAT work within the Lasers department

  • Support production daily sub-assembly needs as required to support production schedules and goals

  • Helps develop new products initial sub-assembly builds, techniques, processes

  • As required, support the team with non-routine, indirect tasks that support the overall functioning and flow of the organization

Job Qualifications:

  • Computer Skills including use of MS Office software and network navigation

  • Meticulous attention to detail involving a high level of concentration

  • Excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity

  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision and in a team/group environment

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions in working with high voltage and current power supplies and lasers

  • Demonstrates ability to consistently deliver high quality results and meet schedule requirements

  • Functions reliably as an integral member of the laser production team

  • Clearly communicate and discuss detailed product and assembly specifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent education is required

  • Working with small precision optical components

  • Working with microscopes and a wide range of small hand tools and electronic test equipment

  • Frequent use of cleaning chemicals and adhesives

  • Sitting at workstations for long periods of time

  • Working in a cleanroom environment in cleanroom attire if required

  • Decision making and problem solving

  • Generally requires a minimum of 18 to 24 months of equivalent laser subassembly and assembly building experience.

  • Capable of communicating in a professional environment
