General Statement

Make history and join our college by transforming nursing education and healthcare of Montana through the generous philanthropic investment of $101 million from Mark and Robyn Jones, the founders of Goosehead Insurance. By 2030, we strive be on the top of nursing education through constructing five new campus buildings (one on each campus), the creation of five endowed professorships, student scholarships, producing more qualified nurses, and starting Montana’s first Certified Nurse Midwifery program. We are looking for a change leader to help manage this process for our graduate programs.

The Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing ( MRJCON ) offers a baccalaureate in nursing, accelerated baccalaureate in nursing, Master of Nursing focused on clinical leadership, and Doctor of Nursing Practice with focus in either family nurse practitioner or psych-mental health nurse practitioner. The College has a distance-delivered graduate campus along with five physical campus locations across the state, located in Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Kalispell, and Missoula.

The Program Coordinator position provides administrative coordination to support the operations of the and Robyn Jones College of Nursing campus located in Billings, MT. This includes coordinating the registration and implementation of two undergraduate nursing programs, verifying students clinical preparation for clinical rotations, provide general administrative support to the campus, and coordinating the technology needs for the campus.

Duties and Responsibilities

Campus Undergraduate Program Coordination (35%)

  • Coordinate student services for two undergraduate student nursing programs (Traditional and Accelerated) for assigned campus.

  • Register the assigned campus students in nursing courses and track students’ academic requirements for both undergraduate nursing programs.

  • Use independent judgement, intellectual analysis, and evaluation in solving complex inquiries regarding registration processes.

  • Assign students to faculty advisors and maintain advising lists.

  • Maintain student records in the undergraduate electronic files shared with the college.

Campus Administrative Support (30%)

  • Serve as a first point of contact for the campus by responding to inquiries and requests for information regarding the college, campus, or program.

  • Manage day to day assigned administrative operations.

  • Provide guidance and administrative support to faculty, students, and staff for the campus on administrative, programmatic, project, and office management levels.

College Operations (30%)

  • Provide on-site assistance and support to the college pinning ceremony by checking and directing your campus’ students.

  • Coordinate and assist with the Dean’s semester visit to campus.

  • Coordinate with academic programs to administer faculty book orders for courses, verify book orders, update student booklists and submit to the bookstore (if applicable).

  • Plan and implement campus events (such as White-Coat Ceremony, New Student Orientation, Clinical Agency Meetings), including securing space, preparing schedules, advertising/promoting, and when appropriate coordinating food, lodging, and transportation.

Additional Responsibilities Include, but not limited to (5%)

  • Provide back-up coverage to other campus and college administrative staff.

  • Assist with supervising office / computer lab student workers.

    Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • A bachelor’s degree and administrative/office management experience, and/or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Demonstrated experience working with computers and various software programs such as MS Office, email, databases, and internet.

  • Demonstrated experience working a collaborative work environment, preferably with students, faculty, and staff.

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of or previous experience working in an academic department in a higher education setting.

  • Knowledge of previous experience working in customer service.

  • Demonstrated experience with project management, including data collection/management and compliance oversight.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with various constituencies, including students, administrators, co-workers, and faculty.

  • Possess excellent written, in-person communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Represent the Mark & Robyn Jones College of Nursing and MSU professionally and courteously.

  • Make and oversee short-term decisions in relation to the department or unit’s long-term goals.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision while establishing effective working relationships as a team member.

  • Gather and interpret information to make sound recommendations.

  • Maintain records with a high degree of accuracy, close attention to detail, and uphold confidentiality standards.
