Position Details

General Statement

The mission of the Montana AHEC and Office of Rural Health is to improve access to healthcare for rural Montana by improving the supply of healthcare professionals through academic and community partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct community outreach initiatives of the MORH / AHEC including listening sessions and community program evaluations.

  • Travel to communities across Montana to facilitate and attend meetings and listening sessions as a part of community program evaluations.

  • Write public reports and make presentations to healthcare and public health partners and community members.

  • Collaborate with state and tribal partners to implement nutrition, physical activity, and family wellness strategies.

  • Provide day-to-day technical assistance to program partners and monitor program progress.

  • Assist the Director with projects of the MORH / AHEC .

  • Research grant opportunities and assist with writing grants.

  • Develop content for websites and social media related to MORH / AHEC .

  • Research policy recommendations on rural health and health professions.

  • Provide support to committees of MORH / AHEC and represent MORH / AHEC at meetings.

  • Research and write reports on rural health issues.

  • Provide oversight to health professions students and interns.

List any secondary duties assigned to this position:

  • Travel in-state to represent MORH / AHEC through the facilitation of community listening sessions (up to 50% of the time).

  • Travel to national meetings to represent MORH / AHEC (1-2 times per year)

    Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor degree in Health-related field, Public Administration, Social/Behavior Science or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Experience in healthcare, public health, statistics/data management, higher education and community organization.

  • Demonstrated experience with data collection and preparing reports.

  • Experience in project management, large meeting facilitation, strategic planning, resolution-focused implementation planning, and developing/maintaining community relationships.

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with community partners.

  • Demonstrated experience with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Webex).

  • Demonstrated experience with skill in writing, written & oral reports.

  • Demonstrated experience with data interpretation and report writing.

  • Demonstrated experience with chronic disease-related programming and policy.

  • Demonstrated experience working with rural and American Indian communities.
