State of Montana Property Appraiser 3 in Bozeman, Montana

Our services impact EVERY Montanan! *MISSION STATEMENT* To be the nation’s most citizen oriented, efficiently administered, State tax agency. The Montana Department of Revenue administers almost 40 state taxes, property appraisals, liquor laws, and unclaimed property for the state of Montana. The Property Assessment Division manages Montana’s property tax laws, including the valuation of all taxable property for property tax purposes. *DUTIES* The Property Appraiser 3 conducts property reviews and discoveries, data research, and field appraisals and inspections to determine final valuation of commercial properties; assists in the discovery, listing, and analysis of commercial properties; analyzes, assesses, and reclassifies land uses; and assists with specification, calibration, and benchmarking of models, sales comparisons, and property characteristics. The incumbent also coordinates and provides a range of specialized services in support of ongoing program operations and activities including responding to taxpayer inquiries; explaining appraisal activities; dispute resolution; and participating in appeal hearings. For a complete job description please contact Human Resources. *REQUIRED* List detailed work experiences including status of each job: full/part time, temporary or seasonal.Resumes are not reviewed. *EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE* The above knowledge, skills, and abilities are acquired through: * Four years of post-secondary education or vocational training in business, accounting, economics, public administration, appraisal, construction technology, or related field; and * One year of job-related experience. * Preferred work experience includes mentorship & training of others, mass appraisal, property tax appraisal, assessment, auditing, agriculture, forestry, surveying, real estate, or related field. * Requires Montana certifications in residential, agricultural/forestland and commercial property appraisal (IAAO 102), per ARM 42.18.206-208 and MCA Title 15; within the first year of employment. * Requires Montana certification in residential property appraisal (IAAO 101), per ARM 42.18.206-208 and MCA Title 15; within the first year of employment. * Requires Montana certifications in residential and agricultural/forestland property appraisal (AG Certification), per ARM 42.18.206-208 and MCA Title 15; within the first year of employment. Other combinations of education and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis. It is important that all previous work experience is listed.
