  • IF WORKING SWITCHBOARD/ER REGISTRATION:

ANSWERS MULTI-LINE PBX CONSOLE, DIRECTS CALLS, PAGES TO APPROPRIATE DEPARTMENT, PROCESSES AND PAGES EMERGENCY CODES FOR FACILITY ACCURATLY AND EFFICIENTLY. RECEIVES PATIENTS/FAMILIES PRESENTING TO EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT IN A COURTEOUS AND FRIENDLY MANNER. COMPLETES EPIC ONE CHART REGISTRATION FOR LABOR AND DELIVERY AND EMERGENCENCY DEPARTMENT TIMELY AND ACCURATELY BY GATHERING DEMOGRAPHIC, INSURANCE AND TYPE OF SERVICE INFORMATON. UPDATES AND MAINTAINS THE DOCTOR ON CALL LIST.

IF WORKING IN OUTPATIENT REGISTRATION AREAS:

REGISTER PATIENTS AS TIMELY, FRIENDLY AND ACCURATELY AS POSSILBE BY GATHERING DEMOGRAPHIC, INSURANCE AND TYPE OF SERVICE INFORMATION. COMPLETES THE EPIC ONE CHART REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR THE APPROPRIATE HOSPITAL AND/OR CLINIC VISITS. COMPLETES THE PATIENT CHECK IN PROCESS AND PREPARES PATIENT FOR SERVICE.

  • DIRECTS VISITORS TO OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND NEEDS TO BE FAMILIAR WITH ALL AREAS OF THE HOSPITAL AND MOB OFFICES

HANDLES CODE 99 AND OTHER EMERGENCY PAGING ACCORDING TO HOSPITAL PROTOCOL

ADMITS AND REGISTERS PATIENTS AFTER ADMITTING HOURS AND DURING E.D. ADMITTING BREAKS/LUNCHES, REQUIRED TO UPDATE AND CONFIRM DEMOGRAPHIC AND INSURANCE INFORMATION, COLLECTS/SCANS INSURANCE CARDS, COLLECTS APPROPRIATE CONSENTS FOR SERVICES.

REGISTERS PATIENTS FOR OUTPATIENT SERVICES AND CLINIC VISITS AND IS REQUIRED TO UPDATE AND CONFIRM DEMOGRAPHIC AND INSURANCE INFORMATON FOR EACH VISIT. COLLECTS AND SCANS INSURANCE CARDS, COLLECTS APPROPRIATE CONSENTS FOR SERVICES.

COLLECTS OFFICE VISIT AND OUTPATIENT INSURANCE CO-PAYS.

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ADDITIONAL SHIFTS AND WILLING TO WORK LESS/MORE HOURS IF VOLUMN DECREASES/INCREASES

    • PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN HEALTHCARE FRONT OFFICE FIELD.
  • PREVIOUS RECEPTIONIST/CLERICAL WITH COMPUTER IS DESIRED

  • KNOWLEDGE OF, SKILLS IN, ABILITY TO, COMPLEXITY AND DIFFICULY:

  • KNOWLEDGE OF:

    • Personal Computers, hardware and basic software programs including e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge/Understanding of the components to various insurance cards preferred

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures including managing files and records and other office procedures and terminology, whether in paper or electronic format

  • SKILLS IN:

    • Mulit-phone System
  • Proficiency in MS Windows.

  • Operating fax, copier, multiphone lines and other office equipment

  • ABILITY TO:

    • Refer to policy manual for specific instructions/guidelines.
  • Follow established policies and procedures

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • If Working Switchboard/ER

    • 70% Time Spent - HANDLES CALLS TIMELY WITH NO CALLS WAITING OR CONSOLE BEEPING AND ROUTES ACCORDINGLY.
    • 20% Time Spent -HANDLES CALLS FOR PHYSICIANS ACCORDING TO HOSPITAL PROTOCOL
    • 5% Time Spent - COMPLETES LABOR AND DELIVERY PRE-REGISTRATIONS AND ADMITS TIMELY AND ACCURATELY.
    • 5% Time Spent - ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Needs to be able to work additional shifts, and willing to work less hours if volume decreases.

  • Edits daily registrations of all patients in assigned work queues.

  • Goes to patient rooms to collect missing registration information and consents.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Business Office Manager or Admitting/PBX Manager.

  • IF WORKING OUTPATIENT REGISTRATION

    • 75% Time Spent - GREETS PATIENTS AND COMPLETES REGISTRATION FOR HOSPITAL AND/OR CLINIC VISITS AND SCHEDULES ONE CLICK APPOINTMENTS TIMELY AND ACCURATELY.
    • 15% Time Spent - ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assists department in completing registration in all registration areas as needed.

  • Calls doctors office for clarification on orders, or to obtain order if necessary.

  • Calls patient the day before clinic visit to confirm necessary registration information prior to appointment.

  • Needs to be able to work additional shifts, and willing to work less hours if volume decreases.

  • Consult with radiology, phlebotomy and surgical staff and move quickly to assist in the area needed.

  • Edits daily registrations of all patients in assigned work queues.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Business Office Manager or Admitting/PBX Manager.
