  • POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Senior Planning & Data Analyst will serve as a key resource to the Planning & Business Development Team and is responsible for developing, coordinating, monitoring and managing all aspects of generating business and market intelligence, analytics and visualization in order to provide complete and accurate market assessment and recommendation to optimize value creation and margin. This person will also support strategy and business planning, development, implementation and evaluation initiatives (e.g. market assessment, preparing and completing business and growth plans, utilization projections, competitor profiling and assessment, market segmentation, evaluating environmental trends, etc)

This position will be reporting directly to the System Director of Planning & Decision Support

    • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, finance, math, business, computer science, information management, healthcare administration or related field of study requiring strong analytical skills

  • EXPERIENCE

  • Required:

    • Minimum 2 years of work experience as analyst or similar role with demonstrated track record of solving challenging business problems with complex data through solid understanding of data analysis techniques or processes utilization of wide variety of database, spreadsheet and data science tools and processes in fast-paced environments
  • Solid experience in presenting large amounts of information in ways that are universally understandable or easy to interpret and spot patterns, trends and correlations through use of advanced data visualization tools and software to communicate information in these ways

  • Strong work experience in activities that support facilitation, development, implementation and evaluation of strategy and business plans (e.g. market assessment, preparing and completing business and growth plans, utilization projections, competitor profiling and assessment, market segmentation, evaluating environmental trends, etc)

  • Proven ability in handling multiple concurrent projects, prioritizing tasks independently, and meeting deadlines with accuracy

  • Experience in facilitating and leading multi-disciplinary teams

  • Demonstrated exceptional verbal, written, and presentations skills

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems and processes

  • Have an investigative and process mindset that can be used with any specific data analytics tool.

  • Highly proficient in Excel, Word, and Microsoft Access

  • Preferred:

    • 2+ years of experience solving business or healthcare problems with machine learning techniques
  • 3-5 years of experience in developing comprehensive business plans with an ability to think futuristic-ally and strategically

  • Solid experience with data exploration, visualization and analytics tools such as R, PowerPivot, PowerQuery, Qlik, Microsoft SQL Server, Maptitude/other GIS mapping software

  • Proven working experience in project management

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • 50% Time Spent Market Intelligence, Analytics & Visualization

Develop, coordinate, monitor and manage all aspects of generating business and market intelligence, analytics and visualization to provide complete and accurate market assessment and recommendations. These activities include but not limited to:

  • Monitoring and reporting market trends, calculating market share and value, completing service area population and demographics analysis

  • Identifying and mapping/illustrating service area and geographic opportunities through utilization of mapping/geographic information systems and tools

  • Performing advanced analytics such as:

  • machine learning and data visualization techniques to provide actionable insights to solving business or health care problems, identifying trends and patterns, market and business opportunities and communicates analytical results to non-technical audiences – translating analyses into concise and clear business recommendations

  • Utilizing statistical methods (e.g., multiple linear regression, correlation, etc.) to accurately evaluate market trends and/or impacts/outcomes of market interventions (internal or external)

  • Identifying and developing methodology for conducting analyses and reports, including applying and incorporating statistical rigor as appropriate

  • Collecting and integrating data from various sources, prepping/cleaning, transforming, validating, interpreting and analyzing significant amounts of data

  • Developing, maintaining and managing departmental business intelligence databases, dashboards, market analytics systems (platform, tools and processes), and reports to optimize analytical efficiency and quality and ensure data integrity

  • Serving as subject matter/technical expert on service area population and demographics, and service line market performance, and in data interpolation/extrapolation and impact modelling

  • Identify & address any data integrity issues by determining root cause, notifying relevant stakeholders , and creating solutions where able to salvage historic data and/or modify workflow to correct future data

  • Act as internal consultant for and assist other departments in recommending appropriate methods and type of measurement to evaluate operational efficiencies and opportunities

  • Serving as mentor and providing training to junior department team members as needed

  • 45% of Time Spent Planning & Business Development

Support strategy and business planning, development, implementation and evaluation initiatives. These activities include but not limited to:

  • Preparing and completing business and growth plans, utilization projections, market segmentation and feasibility analysis

  • Evaluating environmental trends, assessing core capabilities, financial modeling, completing gap analyses, and identification of best practices to inform potential strategic options

  • Developing and updating competitor information and conducting competitor assessments as needed.

  • Developing presentation materials and illustration of strategically relevant deliverables (e.g., geographic opportunity assessment, roadmap, service area analysis) and delivering presentations

  • Co-lead and work collaboratively with designated system directors throughout the strategic management process.

  • gathering of both internal and external data through interviews with key stakeholders and participate in the development of strategic insights

  • project facilitation, project management, strategic and business planning to support care system and health system strategic and business goals (e.g. Care Systems and Service Line development)

  • presenting data & findings, facilitating discussion, ensuring meeting objectives are met

  • providing meaningful information in all aspects of monitoring and implementing the health system’s various strategic and business plans, including developing KPIs and performance tracking tools

  • Serve as project manager, when needed and applicable, for various other short-term planning activities

  • Coordinating between multiple teams to align team objectives

  • Maintaining deep knowledge of current economic, demographic, social-cultural, technological and political trends impacting the healthcare market o Research and report relevant regulatory requirements related to planning initiatives

  • Assist outside consultants by fulfilling data requests, validating analyses performed, providing recommendations related to modelling, projections, and reliable data sources

  • Assist in System Board Planning Retreat design, facilitation and evaluation

  • Serving as mentor and providing training to junior department team members as needed

  • Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed
