Bozeman Health Senior Stroke Registrar (FT- 1.0 FTE, Variable Shift) in Bozeman, Montana

Position Summary:

The Senior Stroke Registrar is responsible for performing case-findings, abstracting data, timely data entry/coding, data validation, and management of the Stroke Registry database in accordance with current American Heart/American Stroke Association-Get with the Guidelines (GWTG) coding and DNV Requirement Standards. Responsible for GWTG maintenance, creation of reports, and responding in a timely manner to all ad-hoc requests for data. Participates in training and education to maintain national database certification and remains up to date on all requirement changes and DNV publications, adjusting abstracting to and build of Stroke Registry accordingly. Responsible for reporting all identified quality and system opportunities of the Stroke program to management. Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary stroke team to support patient quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Science, Business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience/technical training that demonstrates analytical and technical competency in a medical capacity

  • Three (3) years of experience in a similar role using electronic health records

  • ICD-10-CM course completion within the last five (5) years or complete within one (1) year of hire

  • Experience with regulatory and/or national healthcare data reporting programs

Preferred

  • Prior work experience in medical coding, stroke registrar, or healthcare data analytics

  • Experience with healthcare quality system structure and operations

  • Two (2) years of clinical experience in healthcare, prefer neurology, acute care or stroke care

  • Experience using Epic Electronic Health Records system

Essential Job Functions:

In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements

  • Manage completion and submission of data to the American Heart/American Stroke Association-Get with the Guidelines (GWTG)- Stroke registry.

  • Maintain Stroke Registry compliance as established by the DNV Stroke Guidelines for program certification.

  • Act as a subject matter experience for the Stroke Coordinator, Neurosciences Manager, Stroke Medical Director, neurologists, and administration for retrieval of registry data and maintenance of the Stroke Center certification.

  • Assist and mentor registry team members.

  • Analyze patient data to design and implement analytic solutions, including reports, dashboards, and views from a wide range of existing data sources.

  • Represent the Stroke Program team across the organization in meetings and workgroups including but not limited to providing project management for measurable Stroke Program projects and providing input for Continuous Improvement Projects.

  • Present data at Stroke Committee meetings and document meeting minutes.

  • Additional functions as needed to contribute to the success of the stroke program including but not limited to educating staff on use of stroke data, help drive education efforts to increase stroke awareness in the community.

  • Complete an International Classification of Diseases, Clinical Modification course every 5 years.

Schedule Requirements

  • This role requires regular and sustained attendance.

  • The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

  • On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.
