Bozeman Health System Manager of Facilities Management in Bozeman, Montana

Position Summary:

The Facilities Management System Manager is responsible for planning, managing, organizing, monitoring and supporting the supervisors, personnel, and contracted services within the plant operations department in congruence with policies, budgets, objectives and strategic priorities of the health system. Responsible for upholding requirements as defined by regulatory agencies, including but not limited to CMS, OSHA, CDC, FDA, NFPA, and other state and federal codes. Works collaboratively with Construction System Manager and team on the design, documentation, bidding, permitting, and construction coordination for in-house projects to plan for future plant operations management requirements of the new construction. Leads implementing and updating the Physical Environment Management plans, any corrective action plans, and necessary improvement projects to support the Physical Environment Committee. Organizes, schedules and participates in regular Physical Environment Tours to promote a proactive and reactive approach to safe practices that lend to a safe environment and excellent consumer experience as it pertains to fire/life safety and physical and occupational safety/security. Manages all applicable purchased services agreements to assure quality of services rendered by performing regular contracts evaluations, quality checks, and providing continual feedback to vendors and contractors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction/Business Management, Construction Engineering Technology, or other related field; will consider educational qualifications of certifications and technical plant operations experience in lieu of degree

  • Five years of related experience

  • CAD experience; tracking and reviewing building/suite size and features

  • Experience in management and leadership

  • Understanding of Life Safety / MEP / As Built prints

Preferred

  • Experience in healthcare or other large system/multi-site plant operations role

  • Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), Certified Life Safety Specialist (CLSS-HC), Certified Healthcare Operations Professional (CHOP)

Essential Job Functions:

In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.

  • Ensures a collaborative departmental approach to long-range strategic operational planning, care and service design and development of organizational policies, which reflect the mission of the organization.

  • Coordinates and oversees the organization-wide departmental services. Continuously assesses, measures and improves departmental performance across the system.

  • Ensure the provision of comprehensive departmental services complies with all regulatory agencies and healthcare system requirements.

  • Makes recommendations on equipment, materials, means & methods, and potential purchased service need for preventive and corrective maintenance of overall plant operations and fire/life safety.

  • Coordinates operational activities between the organization and the plant operations department; defines project deliverables, time lines and monitors progress thereof; monitors building improvements including budget, schedule progress, observation of building improvements to insure compliance with design documents and design intent.

  • Demonstrates responsible management of all departmental resources to include contracted services.

  • Demonstrates clinical/technical and managerial competency. Ensures staff professional needs are met.

  • Leads, teaches, inspires, helps, and consistently demonstrates professional and ethical business conduct in accordance with policy.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting, Pushing, and Pulling: Lift 50 pounds of weight (pick up materials, move equipment, etc.) Carry equipment/supplies. Use upper body strength (repair and maintenance work, etc.)

  • Extended Hours: The role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily.

  • Flexible Schedule: The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

  • On-Call Availability: On-call work may be required to respond to organizational and patient needs promptly.

  • Effective Communication: Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies.

  • Handling Challenging Situations: The role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations and work effectively with frustrated patients or families.

  • Repetitive Tasks: Ability to perform repetitive tasks as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.

Tasks Include Potential Exposure: Job tasks may involve exposure to:

  • Bloodborne pathogens, such as blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.

  • Radiation in settings where medical imaging procedures are performed

  • Various chemicals and medications used in healthcare settings. Job tasks may involve handling cleaning products, disinfectants, and other substances.

  • Infectious diseases due to contact with patients in areas that may have contagious illnesses
