Auxiliary Services provides a wide variety of student and campus services with departments under its umbrella such as Residence Life, Family and Graduate Housing, Culinary Services, CatCard, Conference and Event Services, Strand Union, Sports Facilities, and Auxiliary Information Technology. The division employs approximately 370 permanent staff and between 900-1200 student and temporary workers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under minimal direction and in collaboration with University Human Resources (UHR), the Timekeeping Program Manager actively oversees and manages the payroll efforts and software system (TimePro) for Auxiliary Services; provides guidance and collaborates with departmental supervisors on all relevant system functions; and delivers excellent customer service at every interaction.
Manages and maintains Auxiliary timekeeping software and payrolls
Provides senior level payroll support to the Auxiliary Enterprise (370 full time / 1200 temporary)
Directs and coordinates the Auxiliary Services’ payroll effort to ensure timely and accurate payrolls
Departmental liaison with UHR regarding all payroll and benefit issues; researches and resolves any payroll or benefit discrepancies for Auxiliary staff.
Creates payroll reports as requested/needed by managers to meet budgetary goals and to ensure data integrity
Creates and conducts training for supervisors on software system and reports
Troubleshoots software technical issues and problems related to the system
Provides input for long-range planning for system improvements
Ensures departmental compliance on all related MSU, State and Federal guidelines
Leads all permanent employee onboarding processes and any training that is needed
Guides supervisors on worker’s compensation and family and medical leave processes
Assists with recruitment management as needed
Performs a variety of other administrative and reporting functions
Asked to be familiar with Auxiliary departments, their unique services and shifts
And actively participates as part of the team while performing other duties in support of the enterprise’s mission.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree plus progressively responsible payroll processing experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Proficient experience using computers and various software packages.
Strong customer service focus; skilled at effectively and diplomatically responding to a diverse clientele that may include handling difficult customer service situations.
Experience gathering, analyzing and/or evaluating information in order to solve complex matters.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience processing high volume payrolls.
Familiarity with human resources policies and procedures.
Experiencing providing software training to end users.
