Montana Tech Assistant Professor- Civil Engineering in Butte, Montana

Assistant Professor

Full-Time, Academic Year

DUTIES:

Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses within the Civil Engineering department with an emphasis on concrete structures; maintaining and improving labs for the Civil Engineering Department; and developing and delivering undergraduate and graduate course content. The successful applicant will also be expected to initiate and sustain a research program that incorporates graduate student research. Duties also include service to the department, campus, and profession.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Civil Engineering PhD from a program that offers an ABET accredited BS in Civil Engineering;

  • Montana PE license, or ability to obtain Montana licensure within one year of hire;

  • 5 years of industry, consulting, and/or design experience;

  • Minimum of 1 year teaching experience at an ABET accredited university;

  • Proven research record in academia or industry, and an ability to establish a research program in academia; and

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Industry experience and research aptitude in the area of concrete materials and concrete structures.

  • Applicable project-related experience that transfers well into classroom and laboratory settings.

  • Active participation in professional activities to include teaching professional development courses and involvement in professional organizations such as ASCE.

  • Experience working in cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
