The City-County of Butte-Silver Bow is seeking applicants who are interested in applying to be appointed to the elected position of Clerk of the Court. The current term is set to expire on December 31, 2024, Commissioners will appoint a candidate to fill the remainder of the term.
Qualifications For County Office:
7-4-2201.?General qualifications for county office. A person is not eligible for a county office who at the time of election is not:
(1)?of the voting age required by the Montana constitution;
(2)?a citizen of the state; and
(3)?(a)?an elector of the county in which the duties of the office are to be exercised; or
(b)?in the case of an office consolidated between two or more counties, an elector in one of the counties in which the duties of the office are to be exercised.
Those seeking the interim appointment must submit an application by Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 5:00 PM.
The appointed Clerk of Court will serve from July 3, 2023, through the end of the elected term on December 31, 2024.
Additional screening tools and qualifications may be determined at the Commission’s discretion. Interviews will be held in the first part of June 2023.
Those seeking office will be placed on the June 2024 federal primary election ballot. Candidates may run for the election but are not required to do so.
