State of Montana Clinical Therapist in Butte, Montana

The Montana Chemical Dependency Center (MCDC) is the only in-patient chemical dependency treatment center administered by the State of Montana. This treatment center provides medically monitored detoxification and treatment services to individuals 18 years or older who have been diagnosed with substance use disorders. MCDC is licensed for 48 beds. The behavioral health program at MCDC emphasizes the importance of educational, interactive, and skills based co-occurring treatment. The Mental Health Therapist facilitates evidence-based services in individual and group based settings in order to meet the needs of men and women who suffer from emotional disturbances, and chemical dependency addictions in accordance with ASAM criteria identified for 3.7 and 3.5 levels of inpatient care. Major Duties or Responsibilities: A.Clinical Assessment Services 25% * * Conduct clinical assessments, biopsychosocial assessments and make aftercare recommendations as necessary. * Facilitate crisis intervention and conduct risk assessments. Make necessary referrals for care to ensure safety. * Facilitate behavioral intervention and solution focused resolution planning. * Complete Magellan Medicaid Prior Authorizations and Continued Stay Reviews justifying ASAM 3.7 and 3.5 levels of inpatient care. * Using ASAM guidelines, diagnose stages and severity levels of chemical dependency in patients and identify needs of treatment based upon the appropriate modality of care. *B.Clinical Programming 50% * * Provide co-occurring treatment, education, and counseling to patients on an individual and group basis; using motivational enhancement strategies, and CBT & DBT techniques and educational materials, focusing on evidence-based, recovery-oriented practices. * Carry a constantly evolving and fluctuating patient caseload while monitoring and evaluating patient progress, and identifying patient needs. * Conduct weekly treatment review meetings to assess patient progress and areas of concern and modify treatment plans to comply with changes in patient status using identified ASAM risk criteria. * Counsel patients regarding issues such as day-to-day problems, behavior management and crisis intervention. * Counsel patients in individual and group sessions to help overcome dependencies, develop recovery plan, and adjust to sobriety. *C. Professional Communication and Conduct 25% * Consult with interdisciplinary team including medical staff, direct care staff, and case management staff regarding patient care, progress, areas of concern and continued care planning. * Consult with management staff in the event of an emergency/crisis situation and coordinates appropriate referrals to ensure quality of care is provided. * Coordinate with case management staff to plan for discharge from facility and back into community. Makes referrals for necessary follow up care. * Maintain required written documentation in TIER (electronic medical record system) adhering to DPHHS HIPPA policies & procedures, and MCDC Management protocol. * Maintain confidentiality in accordance with DPHHS HIPPA policies & procedures, 42 CFR, & MCDC management protocol to ensure privacy rights are followed. * Analyze, assemble, and organize information in a time sensitive manner. * Comply with facility policy and/or direction and consult as needed or required with supervisors to obtain clarification or address concerns to ensure the provision of appropriate patient care and treatment or job duties. Physical and Environmental Demands:Physical hazards may include risk of injury due to the behavior and unpredictability of the people served. Physical demands may include prolonged periods of sitting, standing, lifting, or carrying items. Emotional and psychological demands may be significant due to demands placed by the population served. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Behaviors): * Knowledge of chemicaldependency treatment, therapeutic interventions, ASAM Criteria including placement criteria, continued stay and chemical dependency diagnoses. * Knowledge of pharmacology and withdrawal syndromes, co-occurring mental disorders, family dynamics and abuse related issues. * Knowledge of principles of human behavior, contemporary social, and economic conditions, needs, and problems relating to the patient family background, and principles of federal and state legislation pertaining to social welfare community resources. * Knowledge of treatment for patients with serious mental illness, as well as chemical dependency, developmental disabilities, personality disorders, etc. * Effectively utilize knowledge and skills, and apply them to practical assessment and treatment modalities for patients. * Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with interdisciplinary team members. General * Ability to analyze, assemble, and organize information. * Ability to identify problems, researching to develop and implement solutions. * Ability to effectively utilize knowledge and skills, and apply them to practical assessment and treatment modalities for patients. * Ability to maintain confidentiality related to patient information to ensure the right of treatment individuals. * Ability to conduct crisis intervention including motivational intervention and conflict resolution. * Ability to manage a caseload with changing priorities on a daily basis. * Ability to perform all work tasks in a proper and safe manner. * Cooperate with all staff and demonstrates respect for other employees, which contributes to a positive and efficient working environment. * Comply with MCDC, AMDD and DPHHS policies/procedures, as well as State licensure standards. * * Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): * * * Must have active Montana state license as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Professional Counselor Licensed Candidate (PCLC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Social Worker Licensed Candidate (SWLC) upon hire. * Must be eligible to be fully licensed within 1 year of hire. * Must have or willing to obtain prior to hire date a valid CPR/AED/FIRST AID certification card. * Master’s degree in clinical, guidance, counseling, psychology, social work or closely related behavioral science fields with course work allowing for licensure in the State of Montana is preferred. * Dual licensure as Montana Licensed Addiction Counselor is preferred. * One year of job related experience in direct clinical services preferred. * Other education and experience may be considered.
