The Content Writer will initiate, create, edit, and disseminate dynamic, creative, inspiring, educational, and accurate content and stories, engaging with internal and external stakeholders. The position will manage a process and repository of stories and information about faculty, staff, students, and alumni to be used on the website, social media, admissions publications, news releases, emails, and the university’s magazine. They will deliver consistency in voice and messaging across all channels and audiences, and ensure that all content aligns with the university’s recruitment, marketing, and communication plans.

The position will develop and follow an editorial calendar. The candidate will collaborate with team members to ensure timely delivery of materials that conform to the university’s editorial style. The Content Writer will play an integral role in the future of Montana Tech. The candidate must be a self-starter who will be active across campus connecting with faculty, staff, and students. The Content Writer must be comfortable working independently and will consistently meet deadlines. This on-campus position is a dual report to the Director of Admissions and the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications. The position will work half-time in the Admissions Department and half time in the Marketing and Communications Department.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in writing, communications, marketing, or related field.

  • 1 year of professional level writing and editing experience.

  • Proven record of impactful writing demonstrated in a professional portfolio.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to create and edit accurate, dynamic, and brand-relevant copy suitable for a variety of communication channels.

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

  • Ability to multitask between small and large-scale projects in a deadline-oriented atmosphere.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Adept at writing website content and driving copy optimization for SEO.

  • Proficient with computers, especially writing programs, such as Google Docs and Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in higher education.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
