Culinary Professional I

Department: Dining

Employment Detail: Full-Time

Salary: $11.20/ Hour

  • Ensuring sanitation procedures (cleaning tables, mopping, dishwashing, etc.) in line with Covid-19 protocol and other department of health and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Assist line cooks with prep items (i.e. retrieving items from freezer or dry storage, dishware delivery, etc.)

  • Assist with vendor deliveries (unloading and stocking), stock rotation, and transfer of supplies and equipment between storage and work areas such as pantry and dish room.

  • Position may be required to work in a variety of stations depending on operational demands including, food preparation and food serving.

  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings (safety and risk management, sanitation, and food safety)

  • Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor


  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum of one-year experience in food service or hospitality industry

  • Ability to read and interpret policy and procedures


  • Ability to use standard kitchen equipment including but not limited to grills, broilers, ovens, mixers, buffalo choppers, etc.

  • Food Handler?s Certificate, ServeSafe Certificate or ability to obtain within six months

  • Ability to be at work on time and meet schedule requirements


  • Customer service experience

  • Flexible scheduling (ability to work nights, weekends, alternative shift schedules, and comfort with a university calendar)


  • Able to stand on concrete for long periods

  • Able to lift fifty pounds

  • Ability to spend long shifts in a hot, demanding environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
