Dental Assistant 40 hours, benefits-eligibleMon - Fri, 7:45-5:15 with lunch from 12-1FLSA Non-exempt - Successful candidate must pass a criminal background checkWilling to train a dependable person who brings motivation to succeed, a strong work ethic, maturity, and a sense of responsibility and commitment to the tableStarting wage $16.00 / hour or more for higher qualified individualsCandidate review begins 3/15/2025 - position open until filledPosition Summary:Under the general direction and supervision of the Dental Director/Dentist, this position prepares patients for dental examination and procedures. Assists in providing patient care within the appropriate scope of practice to a diverse patient population. Minimum Qualifications:Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; graduation or completion of a dental assisting program preferredLicense/Certification: Must obtain current BLS certification at the earliest opportunity if not held at the time of hire, must pass RHS test within 6 months of hire if not held at the time of hireExperience: One-year prior experience as a dental or medical assistant preferred Job Requirements:Must have the highest standards for attendance and punctuality Must embrace teamwork and be willing to help others voluntarilyUses the appropriate chain of command to solve problemsThe ability to carry out functions and core competencies of a Dental AssistantThe ability to become proficient in the operation of a computer system and applicable software programs (i.e. Office 365, etc.)The ability to become proficient in the use of computerized imaging and electronic dental record programThe ability to communicate effectively with patients and staffPossess and apply the skills necessary to effectively treat patients of all age groups, regardless of the special needs of the patientPerform duties in a manner that is both professional and compassionateApply knowledge in a manner that allows the needs of each provider and therefore each patient to be met Essential Functions, Roles, and ResponsibilitiesAssists practitioners in performing proceduresMaintain medical recordsExplain technical medical information to patientsPerforms initial clinical interview and processing of patients that include:Takes description of the chief complaint or reason for the visitReview patient medical history and make any appropriate changesAssesses for and identifies abnormal patient conditions and immediately reports them to the clinicianAssists chair side independently and provides dental care to patients across the lifespanAccurately and consistently understands and communicates dental terminology while relaying information to co-workers, patients, and health recordsDemonstrates skill in computer operations and dental softwareKeeps accurate records of dental office inventory and orders supplies as necessaryPerforms operatory set-up and clean-up and dental instrument sterilization as outlined by infection control guidelines provided by OSHAMaintains dental equipment such as handpieces, operatories and evacuation units, radiographic equipment, and sterilization units according to manufacturer’s guidelines. Demonstrates the ability to deal courteously and effectively with patients displaying a calm and caring demeanor while remaining professionalAbility to deal with stressful situations and high volumes of workload while displaying a sound understanding of prioritization and organizationBacks up dental check-in, dental check-out, and/or dental scheduling as necessaryComplies with dental office and corporation policy and procedures consistently in all aspects of employmentAbility to organize and prioritize workloadMust report to work on time and as scheduledOther duties as assigned
