Southwest Montana Community Health Center Dental Director in Butte, Montana

Dental Director (Dentist):This position could be located in Butte, MT or Dillon, MT. The Dental Director manages both clinics.We will consider a 30 to 40 hour regular work week (3-5 workdays); salary indicated is for 40 hours per week and will be prorated appropriately based on FTE.Salary $172,434 - $204,408 DOE DOQ.Eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.Must be able to pass a criminal background check.Candidate review begins 2/01/2025 position open until filled.Position Summary:Under the general direction and supervision of the Executive Director, the Dental Director supervises the dentists and hygienists and represents the department within the organization. The Dental Director provides dental advice and counsel to the Executive Management Team, as requested. In addition, they are responsible for providing direct patient care as outlined in the Dental Director’s professional contract agreement. The Dental Director is responsible for maintaining and providing clinical and administrative leadership in order to expand a program of primary and preventive dental care and fulfill the mission and vision of SWMTCHC.Job Requirements:Qualifications:Graduation from an accredited dental school.Completion of an accredited general practice residency program is preferred.A minimum of three years of clinical experience is required, five years of experience preferred.Knowledge of public health principles and practices preferred.Strong supervisory and personnel management skills.Administrative, management, PI, and budget development experience preferred.Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills required.Licensure & Credentials:Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Montana.Current CPR (BLS) certification required, ACLS preferred.Montana DEA registration and Controlled Substance License.Medicaid provider.Essential Functions, Roles, and Responsibilities:Designs, develops, and implements appropriate Dental Department policies, protocols and procedures which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards.Collaborates with Assistant Dental Director and Dental Operations Coordinator to ensure departmental initiatives and organizational mission and vision philosophies are met and operations are carried out collaboratively and efficiently.Develops and executes best practices for recruitment and retention measures of direct reports, and performs periodic evaluations of all Dental department professional providers as directed by the policy of the organization.Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines; records patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient’s dental record; and complete referrals and data collections.Educates individuals in the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention and assists in the provision of technical assistance and health education to the community as requested.Conducts regular Peer Review.Communicates Dental department issues, concerns, program status, initiatives and progress to the Executive Management Team, as requested or required; participates in short and long-term program planning, including development of goals and objectives, and assists in the preparation of an operating budget for the Dental Department.Responsible for personal, as well as departmental full compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and center rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical provision of dental care including those relating to, but not limited to, personnel issues, workplace safety, public health and confidentiality.Utilizes EPIC and other organization-specific software.Experience serving a diverse patient population across the lifespan required.Job Requirements:The ability to carry out functions of a Dentist, as described by the MT Department of Occupational Licensing and this document.The ability to operate a computer system and apply basic computer skills.The ability to become proficient in the use of computerized imaging and electronic dental and health record program.The ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.Possess and apply the skills necessary to effectively treat patients of all age and socio-economic groups, regardless of special needs of patient.Perform duties in a manner that is both professional and compassionate.Apply knowledge in a manner that allows the needs of each patient to be met.Acts as a SWMTCHC liaison and representative by providing community oral health education and services off site to include schools, senior centers, and other organizations as needed.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Competent in dealing with racially, ethnically, and economically diverse populations.Knowledge of medications used in conjunction with dental work.Knowledge of health record keeping and dental charting.Knowledge of OSHA Blood borne Pathogen Standards and adherence to safety standards.Proficient computer skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Excellent critical thinking skills, good judgement, and problem-solving ability.Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.Ability to develop people and teams in a way that fosters a cohesive and predictable work environment.Ability to work under pressure.Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as a team member.Ability to educate patients across the lifespan in all aspects of oral hygiene including consequences and treatment options for periodontal disease.Legal Concepts:Practices with the scope of education, training, and personal capabilities.Maintains confidentiality.Follows federal, state and local legal guidelines; follows license criteria when licensure applies.Maintains HIPAA & OSHA compliance.Reports any evidence of abuse or neglect to provider or appropriate official.Supervision: Dentists, Dental Hygienists.Immediate Supervisor: Executive Director; in their absence, designee.Physical Demands/Working Conditions:General office/clinic conditions are pleasant; climate-controlled, good, clean working conditions where accident and hazards are negligible; requires short periods of moderate lifting, pushing or pulling heavy objects or transferring patients. Other requirements include, but are not limited to finger dexterity, problem sensitivity, arm-hand steadiness, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, near vision, control precision, oral comprehension, oral expression, speech clarity, written comprehension, information ordering, manual dexterity, selective attention, speech recognition, multi-limb coordination. Clear diction and acute hearing are necessary for effective communication with the staff and public.
