Intermountain Health Diet Aide in Butte, Montana

Job Description:

Under close supervision, the Food Service Associate performs a variety of food service duties.

As a Dietary Aide you need to know how to:

Receive calls for meal orders from patients or nursing staff utilizing appropriate phone protocol.

Monitor and verify patient information and diet orders are interfacing correctly between electronic medical records and room service software system.

Review documentation for ongoing patient care.

Monitor patient food allergies and communicate patient food allergies to cooks and tray passers.

Maintain patient confidentiality as outlined by privacy and HIPAA guidelines.

Add appropriate tray messages to patient profiles in room service software system for patients that are high risk, in contact precautions, or if otherwise indicated.

Perform tray accuracy checks, test trays and meal rounding per department PI requirements.

Schedule house trays for Clear Liquid, Full Liquid, and Level 1 Dysphagia and Level 2 Dysphagia diet orders.

Accurately summarize patient preferences and special requests by the dietitian or doctor orders in room service software system.

Complete call backs to patients and/or caregivers by 5:30pm each day.

Guide patients and caregivers regarding special diets and allowable food choices and make suggestions for allowable substitutes.

Ensure carbohydrate counts are accurate for patients on diabetic diets by always selecting the bread choice on menu modifiers in the room service software system.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or 1-3 months of related experience and/or training, required.

  • Current ServSafe Food Handler certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, required.

Physical Requirements:

Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.- and -Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.- and -See and read computer monitors and documents.- and -Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.- and -May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$16.24 - $26.12
