Town Pump Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax and Asset Accounting Director to maintain our general ledger, ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, and oversee all tax preparation and reporting requirements for the company and its subsidiaries. This role involves supervising subordinates, assisting attorneys and accountants, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise personnel and duties for the Fixed Assets/Tax Department.

  • Compile, administer, and allocate tax and economic depreciation.

  • Oversee Personal and Real Property Tax reporting and allocations.

  • Assist with Management and Overhead Fees compilation and allocation.

  • Assist in accounting for non-operating business assets.

  • Compile annual information for Tax Accountants.

  • Compile financial information for business valuations.

  • Compile construction period interest.

  • Maintain the general ledger and reporting in the company’s books and records.

  • Act as the primary contact for IRS and MT DOR requests and audits.

  • Perform and review account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of all entities’ trial balances.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Business with an accounting emphasis, plus 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of corporate structure is essential.

  • Language Skills:Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondences and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

  • Mathematical Skills:Proficient in calculating figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and areas.

  • Computer Skills:Proficiency in MS Excel and Word, with the ability to learn and operate company-specific software.

  • Reasoning Ability:Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.

  • Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Auditing and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.

  • Knowledge of Federal and State income taxation, fuel tax regulations, and gaming tax regulations.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in cross-checking both alphabetical and numeric data.

  • Ability to make judgment decisions regarding the application of accounting, auditing, taxation, and business valuations.

  • Strong personnel management skills to lead and direct subordinates effectively.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
