JOIN OUR TEAM AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE! “Action Inc is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing pathways out of poverty in Southwest Montana through innovative, community-based, collaborative approaches.” Family Services Coordinator—Butte Head StartEmployment/FLSA Status: Full-Time/Non-Exempt/SeasonalPosition Summary: We are currently seeking an energetic person to join our team in the position of Head Start Family Service Advocate. Through a respectful and energetic style guided by the core values of the organization, the position plays an integral role in administering the Head Start program. The successful candidate is responsible for development, implementation and oversight of the Family Services components of the Head Start Program which include family engagement, student recruitment, and community outreach. The successful applicant be perceptive about the needs of low-income children and families and have a strong commitment to their overall wellbeing. Must have exceptional organizational and planning skills, administrative skills, and the ability to provide leadership to families and peers in the implementation of family services. This position requires the ability to develop strong community partnerships, relate well with children and families, and to function as part of a professional team.Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and implementation of all Family Services. Family Engagement:•Establishes systems for providing direct services to families including the Family Partnership Agreement process, case management, and referral and follow-up activities. •Serves as a primary contact for families and the public, responding to program inquiries needs of students and families.•Provides training and resources to families.•Leads the planning and implementation of parent meetings and parent involvement activities.•Responds as necessary to the needs of families in crisis, coordinating with Head Start and community programs and resources.Recruitment:•Develops annual recruitment plan utilizing multiple strategies to recruit Head Start-eligible families and tracks data. •Works closely with the Enrollment Coordinator to conduct enrollment determinations and ensure full enrollment.Community Outreach & Engagement:•Coordinates all outreach, community engagement efforts, including community partnership meetings.• Develops an annual engagement plan utilizing multiple strategies and tracks all outreach and recruitment data.•Proactively forms partnerships to support referral services for families and coordinates efforts to link families with appropriate community agencies.•Develops strong community relationships.Desired Qualifications:Education and Experience: A Bachelor of Arts Degree in social work, human development, family services, or a related field and three years’ experience working with at risk children and families.Knowledge, skills, and abilities: The successful candidate will have knowledge of the needs of at-risk families and children; social services frameworks and standards of conduct; community resources that provide family assistance on health, mental health, literacy, financial assistance, employment and other areas; parent involvement and adult education best practices and child development.Must have computer literacy skills, using MS Office applications and other basic data systems including internet navigation. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to provide clear guidance to Head Start children, staff, and families. Ability to work collaboratively with agencies in the community to help meet the needs of Head Start families. Must have the ability to work in a positive and productive manner with a peer team of professionals.
