Gas SCADA Engineer or Analyst

Work Location : Butte, MT

Pay range : Engineer $62,900 to $135,200 per year (Must have engineering degree)

Analyst $54,000 to $121,800 per year

About this position:

The Gas SCADA Engineer/Analyst will work directly in the Gas Transmission and Storage (GTS) Operations group, working with the Gas Control, Gas Measurement, Gas Technicians and assist the Gas Engineering group. The Engineer/Analyst will be responsible for programming and maintenance of the GTS Gas SCADA system as well as the GTS Flow Cal gas measurement system. The SCADA engineer/analyst will also be involved in the design of metering and regulating stations.

  • Designs and implements Gas SCADA displays, alarming, RTU programming, and data exchange

  • Work without direct supervision and serve as a mentor/instructor to others

  • Work in field operating conditions as necessary

  • Required travel up to 10% to all operating groups upon short notice a must

  • Job time spent in an office environment and in the field with occasional lifting up to 35 pounds

    Engineer functions

  • Provide engineering design, support, training and troubleshooting related to Gas Transmission & Storage facilities.

  • Must understand 49 Code of Federal Regulation related to oil and gas parts 191 & 192.

  • Assists in design of metering and regulating stations

  • Designs pressure and flow control systems on the Gas SCADA system and programs PID loop

  • Designs, procures, programs, and installs Gas SCADA remote terminal units

  • Maintains DOT inspection database and performs annual over pressure protection reviews

    Analyst functions

  • Identify, improve and gathering analytical data to support and comprehend complex data into reliable and supportable reports

  • Designs and implements Flow Cal data exchange

  • Constructs applicable reports and documents utilizing Microsoft Windows based computer tools

  • Designs, Creates, and Maintains SCADA Displays

  • Performs routine maintenance on Gas SCADA servers

  • Designs and implements FlowCal data exchanges

  • Analyzes gas volume information and assists in gas measurement audits

  • Administer and maintain gas SCADA System database

  • Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record

  • Engineer requirements : Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Petroleum, Natural Gas Engineering, Control System Engineering

  • OR

  • Analyst requirement is Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Science or equivalent years of experience

  • Gas Measurement/SCADA experience desired

  • Requires general knowledge of DOT, ASME, API, NEC, OSHA terms and guidelines

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Access and Excel

  • A working knowledge of the methods and calculations necessary to design appropriate metering and regulating stations is preferred.

  • Comprehensive knowledge or commonly used concepts, practices, procedures towards safe and creative gas SCADA/measurement solutions is desired

  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Requires good communication skills both written and spoken

  • Must be able to work under time pressure
