The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Montana Tech is pleased to announce an opening for an Instructor in Statistics and Mathematics. Montana Technological University, a regionally accredited college in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, primarily offers degrees in the sciences and engineering. The Mathematical Sciences Department offers undergraduate majors in Mathematics (with options in applied mathematics and statistics) and Data Science.  This position is a tenure-track instructor position in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. The normal teaching load is 12 credits per semester. The primary duties are to teach introductory courses in both statistics and mathematics.  In addition, this position will be responsible for administering summer bridge programs in mathematics for incoming students.  This position is tenurable.  Additional responsibilities could include, but are not limited to, curriculum design, coordination of service courses, and/or student success efforts.  Applications received by December 1st, 2023 will be guaranteed full review and consideration. Duties:

Teach 12 credits per semester of introductory statistics and/or mathematics courses and teach summer bridge programs for incoming students. Additional responsibilities could include, but are not limited to, curriculum design, coordination of service courses, and/or student success efforts.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Masters degree in statistics, mathematics, or related discipline

  • at least 9 credits of graduate level mathematics and/or statistics coursework

    Preferred Qualifications:

     

  • Previous teaching experience in college level mathematics and/or statistics

  • Ability to teach a wide range of undergraduate mathematics and statistics courses

  • Evidence of effective teaching

  • Previous experience with corequisite remediation, summer bridge programs, or other similar student success efforts
