Montana Technological University, a premier STEM focused institution in Butte, Montana, is seeking a Mental Health Counselor to join the Student Affairs team. This position will support current students’ mental health by providing culturally sensitive individualized counseling, crisis intervention, outreach and consultation to the campus community. There is also an opportunity collaborate with Wellness programming. The successful candidate will be a part of Montana Tech’s internationally renowned, century-old tradition of excellence in higher education located in the heart of one of Montana’s richest historical and cultural communities.
Responsibilities
Provides effective psychological services to students to include individual counseling, clinical assessments, group/couples counseling and workshops.
Responds to crisis situations involving mental health through interventions and/or consultations to students, families, and campus partners.
Abides by applicable State and Federal laws, licensure requirements and professional code of ethics.
Maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation of client records in accordance with professional standards and state and federal laws.
Develops and presents educational programs and workshops related to college student mental health.
Maintains knowledge of current information, trends, and resources related to student behavior on college campuses including threat assessment, prevention strategies, etc.
Participates in university, divisional, and/or departmental committees, task forces and consultation meetings
Completes other duties as assigned to support the mission, vision, and goals of the department and University.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have obtained a Master’s degree or a doctorate in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work by position start date of July 1, 2023.
Licensed in MT as a mental health professional (i.e., LCPC) or license eligible and able to obtain full licensure to offer mental health counseling in the State of Montana within 6 months of start date.
Demonstrated clinical experience, preferably with adolescents and young adults

Required Skills
Knowledge of Microsoft suite
Possess excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills and the ability to work with diverse populations.
Demonstrated commitment and ability to practice effective communications with students, faculty, staff, administration and parents.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks, and use good judgement in providing services.
Documentation in a timely manner, EHR experience preferred, and ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Preferred Qualifications
Licensed as a LCPC in Montana by start date.
Experience and interest in developing and delivering outreach and educational programming
Experience providing targeted mental health support to specialized student groups including students who identify as part of the LGBTQIA2S communities, international students, and/or students athletes.
