The Photographer/Videographer will be responsible for planning, capturing, editing, and organizing photo and video assets for Montana Technological University’s marketing, recruitment, and fundraising efforts.
Montana Technological University seeks a Photographer/Videographer to join our team in Butte, Montana on a 1-year contract. This individual will help articulate the institution’s compelling narrative to prospective students, alumni, employers, and the general public through well-honed skills as a professional A/V storyteller. Our ideal candidate can help develop and articulate plans through storyboarding, is seasoned behind the camera taking both stills and video, understands audio capture, and makes editing look easy. Ability to create simple motion graphics and experience with digital asset management applications are also a plus.
You will document our beautiful campus and surroundings, capture student experiences at campus events, in our high tech labs, and in wilderness field camps, script and produce promotional videos for recruitment and fundraising purposes, and generally help to expand, improve, and organize Montana Tech’s library of photo and video assets.

Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Photography, Media Arts, Marketing, or a related field
3+ years of experience producing photos and videos in a professional context
The ability to work a flexible schedule allowing occasional night or weekend events, regional travel to location shoots
Portfolio of exceptional professional photo and video work clearly stating nature of involvement
Strong office software aptitude with ability to quickly learn new applications
Valid driver’s license
Demonstrated proficiency with professional photo/video/audio hardware (DSLR, microphones, lighting)
Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and Premiere
People skills for interviewing subjects, working with a team to plan projects, and interfacing with any required outside vendors
Experience working in higher education environment
Drone photo/video experience
360-degree photo/video experience
Ability to create motion graphics in Adobe After Effects
Basic understanding of/interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand for up to 2 hours
Ability to walk, climb stairs and ramps
Ability to sit, crouch, stoop, kneel as needed while shooting photos or video
