Montana Tech TRIO Academic Coach – Butte High School in Butte, Montana

TRIO Academic Coach ? Butte High School

Temporary, Part Time, Academic Year

DUTIES:

  • Develop, execute, monitor, and evaluate tutoring services

  • Assist in identifying, recruiting, and selecting student participants

  • Provide project information to Butte High School participants

  • Assess and prescribe a plan of project services for participants

  • Maintain communication between project participants, parents, and Butte High School

  • Provide leadership for effective parental and community involvement;

  • Prepare paperwork required by U.S. Department of Education regulations

  • Attend intermittent staff meetings.

  • Work schedule: 33 weeks at 3 hours per week; two (2) 10-hour student fieldtrips; with the option of one (1) 40-hour professional development conference

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current employee of Butte High School

  • Bachelor?s degree in education science, mathematics or related field.

  • Previous experience with high school students.

  • Previous experience as a project leader responsible for student-oriented projects.

  • Clear understanding of Montana post-secondary educational opportunities.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to work with various medias.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with culturally diverse people in an academic setting.

  • Experience in working with federal grants.

  • Comfort level with teenage students and advising the adolescent development process.

  • Background similar to participants

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Able to lift 10-20 lbs.

  • Able to travel long distances, sitting on a bus.

  • Able to walk long distances, guiding students on field trips.
