BEAR PAW FARMS General Farm & Ranch in CHINOOK, Montana

Temporary full-time postion from 3/1/2024 to 11/30/2024 GENERAL FARM RANCH WORKERS must perform any combination of the following tasks to attend to the production of livestock: provide supplement feed and water for livestock from March and April (prior to moving livestock to the summer range); assist with calving, examine livestock to detect diseases and injuries; assist with the vaccination of livestock by herding into corral and/or stall or manually restraining animal on the range; applies medications to cuts and bruises; spray livestock with insecticide; assists with castration of livestock; clips identifying notches on or brands animals; manually clean stalls/corrals. Move cattle to the range to graze on natural grasslands from May to September (no feeding required). Worker is required to work with many different types of farm machinery for soil preparation, crop planting, harvesting and grain processing, and chemical application. Worker will required to drive and control farm equipment to till soil, seed/plant, fertilize, spray pesticides, cultivate and harvest small grain crops; and required maintain and make minor repairs on the equipment they operate. Mechanical skills and experience is required to drive and operate other farm equipment. The worker is also required to attach farm implements, such as plow, disc, sprayer, or harvester, to tractor, using bolts and mechanic's hand tools; load and unload grain truck manually or using conveyors, hand truck, forklift, or transfer auger; weigh grain-filled containers and record weights; and clean out grain bins. Flood irrigation will be done during summer months. Minimal fencing will be required along with facility and grounds maintenance. To work as an agriculture equipment operator requires physical coordination, decision-making ability, mechanical aptitude and driving skills. The job entails working outdoors in all types of weather (extreme heat, cold, wind, dust, rain and snow). Worker must crouch, bend, lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Increased wages and bonus may be possible depending on experience.
