New Critical Access APC Opportunity

Benefis Teton Medical Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital and rural health clinic located in Choteau, MT owned by Benefis Health System. A maximum of twenty-three of the 25-CAH beds are utilized for Swing Bed Long Term Care Residents. The hospital has a 24/7 emergency room staffed with on-call providers. The on-call provider is also responsible for any hospital admissions and any acute issues the long-term care residents may have. The hospital has an average daily census of 1.0. Emergency room visits average 3 a day and these visits can range from the common cold to major trauma or cardiac events. Benefis Health System, our regional transferring facility is located 52 miles away with ground and air transport capabilities. ACLS and ATLS evidence of training is required with certification preferred. Benefis Teton Medical Center is a loan repayment site through the National Health Service Corp for qualified providers.

Our current medical staff includes one M.D. who is in a supervisory role only and does not see patients in the clinic or hospital unless circumstances require, and 1 full-time FNP and 2 full-time PAs. We are recruiting to replace 1 full-time advanced practice clinician.

Benefis Teton Medical Center also has a full-service laboratory with state-of-the-art technology. Our x-ray department includes 16-slice CT capabilities and can provide immediate interpretation of digital images through PACS technology through Benefis Health System. Digital mammography, breast ultrasound and bone density scanning is available on a monthly basis through a mobile unit. We have PT and OT services in house.

BTMC currently has approximately 65 FTE’s and along with the leadership and medical staff are committed to providing progressive, quality healthcare with a personal, caring touch.

Required Hours and Scheduling:

Provider will provide on-site patient care at BTMC, which includes Clinic, Hospital, Emergency and Swing Bed Long Term, a minimum of three (3) eight (8) hour days per week. Typical on-site coverage hours are hours worked on a Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (eight (8) hours per shift).

Provider shall provide weeknight call coverage for BTMC, which includes Hospital, Emergency Room and Swing Bed Long Term Care, a minimum of one (1) night per week. Typical weeknight call coverage is hours worked on a Monday through Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 am the following morning (fifteen (15) hours per shift).

Provider shall provide weekend call coverage for BTMC, which includes Hospital, Emergency Room and Swing Bed Long Term Care, a minimum of one (1) weekend per month. Typical weekend call coverage is hours worked from 5:00 pm Friday to 8:00 am Monday (sixty-three (63) hours per shift).

Provider may work holidays and shifts in addition to those described above on a schedule mutually agreed upon.

Salary

Competitive guaranteed salary with performance incentive bonus and additional pay for holidays and extra shifts. This position also qualifies for loan repayment in rural underserved areas.

Teton County has approximately 6,500 residents and Choteau has approximately 1,800. The area economy is largely agricultural with farming and ranching. Choteau is the county seat for Teton County. The County offices, hospital, schools, and Forest Service Agency are the largest employers in Choteau.

Choteau is nestled 30 miles from the Rocky Mountain Front in North Central Montana. Many recreational opportunities exist within a short distance of the community to include big game hunting, bird hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking, bird watching, camping, and water skiing. Choteau schools, which include elementary, junior high, and high school, have a total of 368 students who receive a well-rounded education. Choteau affords small-town living with a great quality of life and is close to larger urban community of Great Falls. The 4th of July is a big event in Choteau when the town nearly doubles in size; activities include an outdoor concerts, parade, steak fry, American Legion Rodeo, and outstanding fireworks display. Qualifications

Eligible for NP or PA Licensure in the State of Montana. Ability to care for all age ranges.

PAs must have a background in Paramedic or EMT.

NPs much have a critical care/urgent care background.
