Reports To: Assistant Supply Chain Manager

Overview: Nomad Global Communications Solutions is a leading provider of communication and response products serving a wide variety of customers. Our purpose is to be the solution when every second matters, and we are looking for a Buyer to be part of that solution!

The Buyer receives daily requisitions and is responsible for creating purchase order tracking systems, alerting management when orders have been filled and invoices from vendors have been issued, answering vendor questions and providing them with additional order documentation as needed.

Essential Functions / Responsibility:

  • Source and identify suppliers based on price, quality, selection, availability, reliability, production, distribution capabilities, and suppliers’ reputation and history.

  • Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible prices that meet delivery requirements in the correct amounts.

  • Adhere to signature authority, process purchase orders on time, monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.

  • Work promptly to process the paper portions of the purchase process through Finance to successful purchase order closure.

  • Report and resolve product quality issues with the Quality Assurance Department.

  • Process returns in a timely manner.

  • Process verbal and written communication with internal and external customers regarding orders in a timely manner.

  • Work directly with suppliers via e-mail, telephone, and in person.

  • Maintain daily updates of the Materials Plan.

  • Complete tasks as designated by the Assistant Supply Chain Manager.

    Basic Knowledge Desired:

  • Understand the significance of the Nomad Core Values and display a demonstrated willingness to apply them.

  • Be knowledgeable of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products and services, including buying and selling techniques, sales control systems, and knowledge of overall products.

  • Be knowledgeable of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

  • Be knowledgeable about raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

  • Be knowledgeable about internet/web researching regarding companies’ credibility, products, prices, clerical work, etc.

    Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and is occasionally required to sit.

  • Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 20 pounds.

    Working Environment:

  • Fast-paced environment, open-concept office area, interacts regularly with the Production floor.

  • The employee may be subjected to noise levels, ranging from low volume to loud and will be required to wear provided safety hearing devices from time to time, which will be provided.

  • Some exposure to strong odors and fumes.

  • All Team Members must wear provided OSHA approved eye protection at all times in manufacturing areas. The employee will be required to wear provided safety eyewear throughout the performance of their duties.

    Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED; an AA degree or equivalent in a technical field preferred.

  • Minimum 1-3 years documented experience in Purchasing, preferably manufacturing.

  • Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Knowledge of ERP / E2 Software preferred.

  • 45-50 WPM typing with 10-Key (adding machine / calculator)

  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Must have good communication, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Must be willing to listen, learn, and follow instructions.
