Job Overview: */ /The Montana Veterans’ Home is a long-term care facility that is licensed for 105 skilled nursing beds and 12 personal care domiciliary beds. The facility is surveyed and inspected annually by the Veterans’ Administration and the state of Montana. This position primarily provides quality recreation program activities utilizing CNA skills and training. The Certified Nurse Aide/Activities duties focus in the areas ofactivities and recreation utilizing CNA skills and training. The CNA/Activity Aide is to provide individual or group recreation as prescribed by the resident care plan and directed by the Recreation Supervisor. *Major Duties or Responsibilities: A. Resident Care (60%) · Transport residents on recreational outings utilizing proper technique in transfers and transport to ensure safety of residents. · Observes residents’ condition or behavior and reports changes to nurse. · Measures and records residents’ vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse and respiratory rate. Measures input and output. · Assists residents with daily living activities such as eating, personal hygiene, and dressing. · Provides compassionate support to residents/family members and encourages open communication. · Answers call light for assistance and responds to residents’ needs. · Assists staff in providing resident care and responds to emergencies. · Changes linens, make beds, cleans residents’ rooms, bathrooms, or other resident areas. B. Recreation/Activities (35%) · Works both independently and as a team to plan, organize, facilitate large groups, special events and independent recreation/leisure activities to meet needs of all residents within the facility. · Initiate contact and coordinate with community members, volunteers, families, other professionals when planning recreation opportunities for residents-independent and group activities. · Contributes ideas/suggestions for monthly activity calendar meeting deadlines for planning and printing. · Plans and facilitates decoration of the facility for seasons, special events and holidays · Utilize technological equipment-PC, laptops, iPads, Kindles, smart phones, DVD/Blu-ray, copy machines, CD players, and phone systems to provide and enhance recreation opportunities for residents. · Plan and facilitates outings for residents within the community utilizing safe practices in transport, transferring, being aware of terrain and obstacles, awareness of diets if food is involved. · Delivery of mail, assisting with voting, assisting letter writing/reading, assisting residents with personal request. C. Care Plan and Interdisciplinary Team (5%) · Completes and documents initial assessment, quarterly progress note, and daily charting on residents meeting completion deadlines. · Attends inter-disciplinary care plan meetings weekly, presents recreation/leisure needs or concerns of resident. · Develops initial recreation care plan upon admission and maintains resident care plan quarterly and updates as changes occur. Physical and Environmental Demands:Work is of medium demand, that involves lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling; stooping; twisting and extensive standing. Lift 50# occasionally; *Lift 15-20# frequently;_ *Push/pull 60# occasionally/ Reach forward and below frequently._ Lifting in conjunction with moving equipment, supplies, etc, is required. Must have the ability to transfer residents safely. Must be able to effectively communicate with patients and may have to work with uncooperative residents at times. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens.Must have hearing and visual acuity and color vision. Requires manual dexterity. Must be able to drive residents to outings in various environmental conditions: daylight, nighttime, inclement weather, rain, snow, cold and heat. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Behaviors): Required for thefirst day of work: · Knowledge of various recreation and leisure activities, ability to adapt activities, and ability to utilize resources for new activities to meet the needs of various abilities of residents. · Proficient in Microsoft Office; use of general office equipment; calculator, copy machines, phone equipment (land lines and cellular devices), iPad, iPod, Kindle fire, DVD player, CD player, Sound System, clocks, TV’s and work/personal computers. *Title: *C.N.A/Activities Location: Columbia Falls Requisition ID: 24140542
