Xanterra Leisure Holding, LLC Laundry Assistant Manager, Glacier National Park, Summer 2019 in Columbia Falls, Montana
In the absence of the Laundry Manager, manages Central Laundry and ensures that it is run in an organized and efficient manner. Maintains the required standards of Xanterra Parks & Resorts and the National Park Service.
This position does not offer dormitory housing, must live locally or have an RV. Laundry is located in Columbia Falls, MT, right outside of Glacier National Park
Supports the Laundry Manager in all operations of the commercial laundry.
Helps train Laundry Associates and Washpersons in all areas of linen care and operation of commercial laundry machinery.
Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and improved working relationships.
Manage production requirements to increase per hour measures and reduce labor expense.
Ensure compliance with cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA, safety, and complete and on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost.
Uphold, practice and facilitate sustainability processes and values as determined by Xanterra's Ecologix program.
Consistently monitors progress of daily tasks.
Schedules flow of work through sorting, washing, and ironing departments, taking into consideration amount of linens to be laundered and capacity of equipment.
Retains proper controls on inventory of linen and detergent supplies.
Ensures that all environmental policies and practices are enforced and followed.
Ensures that daily orders are filled accurately and timely.
Will perform the duties of Laundry Associate or Washperson as necessary.
Motivates staff and sets achievable goals.
Delegates work assignments; matches the responsibility to the person. Gives authority to work independently. Sets expectations and monitors delegated activities.
Ensures accuracy in all areas of laundry payroll, assisting the payroll manager as necessary.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Technical skills in materials and inventory management, production scheduling, and preventive maintenance.
Knowledge of washroom practices, and laundry/garment finishing techniques and procedures
Leadership: A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Frequent standing, walking, reaching outward and above the shoulder for up to eight hours per shift.
Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
Must be able to push or pull items weighing up to 400 pounds in a wheeled cart on a frequent basis.
Must be able to wear earplugs on a frequent basis.
Must be able to work in an environment close to large laundry equipment and machinery with moderate noise level. Ability to work in production area with occasional temps in excess of 90 degrees.
Must be able to safely move, monitor and change chemicals.
To recommend and implement improvements in the Laundry Operation.
To implement changes due to unsafe conditions.
To hire or dismiss personnel utilizing company guidelines.
