Job Description Summary:

Promotes a positive and professional organizational image. This position performs a variety of medically related clerical, accounting, and billing tasks to facilitate the smooth flow of patients through the organization.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GED required.

  • Data entry experience preferred. Proficiency with software including, but not limited to; Excel, MS Word, Outlook, etc.

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a medical or other healthcare office setting preferred. Combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Knowledge of basic billing procedures, financial reports, medical terminology, various medical forms, reports, and processing.

  • Understand HIPAA and Privacy compliance in regards to the RHC setting.

  • Communication skills including, but not limited to; verbal communication with individuals or small groups (patients, physicians, administration, and co-workers) and written communication with experience in writing business centered emails or letters.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Answers phones or greets patients that come into the facility in a professional and attentive helpful manner.

  • Obtains and enters in EMR correct patient demographic information before each encounter.

  • Verifies insurance/HMO eligibility, medications, previous health history has been requested and received, schedules or registers encounter, and determines need for patient payment at time of service.

  • Office duties include, but are not limited to; filing, faxing, collecting money, listening to and directing phone messages to the appropriate recipients, pulling medical records, sorting and distributing mail to appropriate members of staff, directing patient traffic (physically escorting patients as appropriate to surgical, radiology, lab, or clinical destinations), assists patients in obtaining medical records, or meeting with financial services to discuss payment of account.

  • Communications include, but are not limited to; transferring information over to the Business Office for coding and billing, communicating with managers or appropriate staff for patient complaints, identification of average cost of procedure/service using current Charge master data, ensuring all appropriate signatures are documented and scanned into patient EMR, collects payments, assists in daily deposits, assists in creating and/or updating patient charts, and keeping accurate patient census with appropriate distribution.

  • Maintains compliance with all Federal and State regulations including HIPAA.

Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
