CITY OF CUT BANK Recreation Director in CUT BANK, Montana

The city of Cut Bank is looking for a Recreation Director - PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, directs, supervises, and administers the Civic Center and Swimming Pool Participates in activities, light maintenance, and operation of the Civic Center and Swimming Pool Assures the Civic Center and Swimming Pool are clean and orderly Work varies requiring individual judgement within generally accepted guidelines ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provides the City with safe programs for both facilities and must possess knowledge and skills in administering such programs Possesses the ability to communicate clearly and engage with the public in a positive manner Possesses excellent organizational skills Possesses excellent customer service skills Physical demands may include swimming, climbing, crawling, walking, bending, stooping, tugging, and lifting up to fifty pounds, greater with assistance Must possess a valid Montana Driver?s License Hazards include exposure to chlorine, cleaning compounds and chemicals Must have the ability to follow written and oral instructions MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND PERFORMANCE Supervises and trains staff, assigns work, gives instructions, and maintains discipline Oversees maintenance, operation, and repairs of equipment and grounds needed at both facilities Operates, maintains, and oversees all the activities of both facilities Schedules and trains employees in the techniques of water treatment, backwash, daily maintenance, and cleaning of the pool facilities, all in accordance with the State Department of Health standards and requirements Schedules and recruits recreational leagues and multipurpose room events for the Civic Center Purchases materials, supplies and equipment, and such other related duties as authorized Prepares schedules, a daily log of activities, handles limited amounts of money from fees and membership dues, and submits daily and monthly activity reports, financial reports for both facilities, and attends Park Board meeting Maintains inventory and maintenance of water condition records Develops new items to promote both facilities and their activities, programs to fit community needs and makes recommendations to the Park Board and City Superintendent Responsible for collection of fees and for equipment and facilities requiring care Must have the ability to communicate clearly with staff, the public and the Park Board Requires instructions in, and the use of, safety equipment and procedures to prevent injury SUPERVISION/RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS: Supervise all the activities and personnel of the Civic Center and Swimming Pool EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Must be able to pass a criminal history background check Must be able to become certified pool operator Graduation from high school or its equivalent One year experience dealing with customer service preferred Self-starter who enjoys people Some experience in the maintenance of buildings is helpful Training and Certifications in standard first aid and CPR-PR Prior experience as a pool manager with lifeguard trainer and water safety instructor certifications desirable EXAMPLES OF PERFORMANCE CRITERIA AND EXPECTATIONS Screens applicants and recommends new hires with supervisory oversight Supervises, performs evaluations, and disciplines employees Plans, coordinates, and directs the activities and maintenance of the Civic Center and the Swimming Pool Schedules and recruits recreation leagues and multipurpose room events of the Civic Center and all uses of the Swimming Pool Oversees the maintenance and repair of both facilities and grounds Tests for and maintains water sanitation standards, operates water filtration system, and performs related work May perform other duties as needed and directed by City Superintendent, including the work of subordinates.
