GLACIER COUNTY ROAD DEPARTMENT Truck Driver/Equipment Operator in CUT BANK, Montana

Glacier County Road Department is seeking Two (2) Full - time Road Equipment Operator/Truck Drivers. Perform routine construction and maintenance activities of county roads, bridges, and property to ensure the department provides services safely, in accordance with laws and policies. Complete varied tasks in support of road and bridge maintenance including but not limited to; sign repair, carpentry work, fence installation, jack hammering, power tampering, painting, erosions control and drainage, tree trimming, yard maintenance, and weed control. Help in cleaning of all shop and building areas and aids shop mechanic when possible. May perform some shop mechanic repairs of equipment as needed including some types of welding and fabrication. Conduct inspections of county roads and bridges to ensure safety and when necessary respond to emergency situations including emergency snow removal, de-icing, water on roadways, fallen trees, etc. When directed, this also includes periodic inspections of grounds, shops, facilities, and equipment and investigating and resolving complaints or procedural problems. Continuously monitor the condition of roads and bridges to ensure the safety of the public. Operate a variety of large trucks and specialized heavy equipment on construction and maintenance projects as well as sanding and plowing equipment during hazardous road conditions. May operate or drive; single and tandem axle dump trucks, motor grader, rubber tired backhoe, rubber tired loader motor grader, loader, roller, sweeper, water truck, dozer, mower, excavator, skid steer loader, asphalt paver, and pulling a gravel pup trailer. Qualifications Possess at least a high school diploma or GED State of Montana Commercials Driver?s License, Class A CDL, Type 1 driver?s license with air brake endorsement (or the ability to attain one within 90 days of hire). e, including DOT Physical requirements Advanced knowledge and experience in road construction, road maintenance, culvert installation, etc.; Experience driving trucks, snow plow operations, all County heavy equipment; Knowledge of safe gravel pit and gravel crusher operations and practices; Ability to perform routine service and maintenance of all Glacier County Road Department equipment; Ability to communicate professionally, as well as guide others; Ability to withstand exposure to varying weather conditions and exertion of significant physical effort Ability to properly operate a computer, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and other programs that may be need to complete and submit reports and other documentation; Must be readily available and reliable for on-call duty when needed. May be required to possess and properly account for any Glacier County cellular phone. This job requires skill in the use of heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools.
