* *ACCOUNTANT MONTANA CORRECTIONAL ENTERPRISES DEER LODGE, MT MISSION/ //- /Montana Department of Corrections is creating a safer Montana through Accountability, Rehabilitation and Empowerment. JOB OVERVIEW - Montana Correctional Enterprises (MCE) provides employment and training opportunities for eligible institutional inmates, consistent with the Mission of the Department of Corrections, to hold inmates accountable through work, skill development and restitution, while maintaining public safety and trust. The Montana Correctional Enterprises (MCE) Division is a division of the Department of Corrections (DOC) and supports the Department mission by providing work opportunities and job skill development for offenders at the various DOC facilities (Montana State Prison and Montana Women’s Prison), regional prisons and private contracted prisons at various locations across Montana. The Division is comprised of the Ranch Program (range cattle, feedlot, crops, logging/firewood, composting and dairy); Industries (furniture, upholstery, license plate factory, print, sign, garments, food factory, canteen, sewing and embroidery, and regional prison operations); Vocational Training/Education (motor vehicle maintenance (MVM), low and high side vocational education, laundry processing, food processing); and the accounting/business support operation for MCE operations. The MCE Management Team is comprised of the Program Directors and Division Administrator. This position is assigned to the MCE Accounting and Support Operation. The MCE Accounting and Support Operation is responsible for the development and maintenance of the MCE accounting system (all purchases, disbursements, billing, collections, financial transactions, recording thereof for the MCE Division); and support functions for the Ranch, Industries, and Vocational Training/Education programs. This operation also provides employment opportunities, on the job office skills training, job acquisition and retention guidance for inmate workers. This position will: * Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting and budget-related statements, reports, and supporting documents. * Classify, record, and report financial operations by applying the theories and principles of accounting. * Identify, research, and resolve accounting discrepancies. * Analyze, allocate, and monitor expenditures and revenues. * Assist with the development of accounting procedures. * Maintain accounting ledgers, journals, registers, etc. * Reconcile statements with records and accounting transactions. * May provide direction or guidance to technical and/or support staff. * This position is funded 100% by Proprietary Enterprise Funds.
