ADVANCED NURSE PRACTITIONER MONTANA STATE PRISON DEER LODGE, MT MISSION - *Montana Department of Corrections is creating a safer Montana through Accountability, Rehabilitation and Empowerment. If you want to work making positive changes in the community the Montana Department of Corrections is the place for you! *JOB OVERVIEW – *This position is responsible for treating and prescribing care to patients as referred. The Advanced Nurse Practitioner provides direct patient care and collaborates as a provider and member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team to ensure the clinical needs of the inmate population are met. * Medical management of clients, including but not limited to, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) as part of gender affirming care. * Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management. * Analyze and interpret patients’ histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses. * Recommend diagnostic or therapeutic interventions specific to the diagnosis in adherence to medical standards. * Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety and cost as legally authorized. * Educate patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients’ individual circumstances. * Refer patients to physicians, psychologists, chemical dependency counselors, mental health providers, or other professionals as needed. * May assist with emergency commitments. *REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS * /Applications submitted without required materials may not be considered/ * Resume * Cover Letter * State of Montana Application * References Materials submitted but not requested will not be considered in the selection process, please make sure all attachments are marked as RELEVANT. QUALIFICATIONS * Masters’ Degree as an Advanced Practice Nurse. * ANCC certification as Psychiatric- Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric -Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist * Licensed as APN in the state of Montana, prescriptive authority with assignment of DEA number. * Two years’ experience providing psychiatric patient care as an APN preferred.
