RES Commissioning Superintendent in Dillon, Montana

The Commissioning Superintendent is a crucial part of the successful completion of a project and is responsible for leading the start-up, commissioning, performance testing, and troubleshooting activities at utility-scale renewable projects. This role involves 75% travel on a 21/4 rotation schedule. The Commissioning Superintendent will typically spend 3 to 6 months on each project.
Leads and coordinates Commissioning Engineers, Technicians, Vendor Representatives and Contractors on-site in completing all required commissioning testing for a project
Works with Project Manager and Construction Manager to:
Verify all test prerequisites are met prior to scheduled testing
Ensure all necessary resources are on-site to complete testing as scheduled
Jointly develop Punch List prior to systems being turned over to Commissioning
Observes testing in the field, ensuring all safety and work processes are being followed. Answers any questions testing personnel have during performance of tests.
Reviews all test result documentation for accuracy, completeness, and passing criteria
Leads troubleshooting efforts to determine cause of any failed tests or site underperformance
Organizes site turnover and O&M documentation
Assists in establishment of the project Safety Tagging, Lockout & Work Permit Program and ensuring compliance with its provisions
Interfaces with the Owner’s Operations Department to schedule O&M training
Follows safety and security procedures and determine appropriate action. Report potentially unsafe conditions and use materials and equipment properly
Participates in template and procedure development
Trains testing personnel on test equipment usage and standard work instructions
Underground and overhead distribution testing; transmission systems testing; single and three phase electrical testing
DC systems architecture and testing
Utility scale solar power plant design, operation, and testing
HV and MV switching operations
Lockout/Tagout programs and safe practices when working on energized equipment
Relevant codes and standards associated with the testing and design of electrical systems, including NETA, IEEE, NFPA 70E
Field construction, commissioning, and startup of renewable power plants
Planning, supervising, staffing, and directing daily work
Technical specifications and contractual documents
SCADA control systems
Operations and maintenance
Root cause analysis
Microprocessor-based relay testing and programming
Project execution, budgeting, and schedule
High School diploma or GED, required
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related degree, preferred
4 years or more experience testing and commissioning electrical systems, preferably on utility scale solar and energy storage projects
OSHA 10 and/or 30 certifications
Must have a valid current driver license, eligible for corporate vehicle insurance
Ability to travel 75% and work a 21/4 rotation schedule (21 days on, 4 days off)
Anticipated base salary range: $92,000- $120,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible. This role also includes a daily per diem for food and housing expenses.
