State of Montana Registered Nurse in Dillon, Montana
The MT Youth Challenge Academy (MYCA) registered nurse (RN) provides services for daily sick calls, skilled nursing assessments, recording and maintaining accurate records, administer medications and monitor patient's reactions or side effects, and makes recommendations for treatment to ensure the overall health and welfare of MYCA resident Cadets. Up to 10 hours per week are available. This position requires considerable knowledge of patient care or public health nursing principles, concepts, terminology, equipment, techniques, and practices; dynamics of interpersonal relationships; human growth and development; and available community resources. The position also requires knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures. Requires expert knowledge of professional nursing care principles, practices and procedures in order to assess Cadet's needs, which also involve consideration of the physical, emotional, spiritual and socio-cultural aspects of health care. This position independently provides nursing care, medication administration and patient triage in accordance with accepted nursing practices. RN works under protocols of care/standing orders that provide instructions for taking care of problems and responding to Cadet needs. Judgement is required to assess Cadet's condition, determine degree of change, triage if necessary, refer offsite to higher level of care or initiate urgent care treatment. Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in nursing plus one (1) year of relevant experience, AND requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in Montana. The requirements for licensure of registered nurses in Montana include the provision that the applicant has written a state board test pool examination or national council licensing examination (NCLEX). General requirements for licensure as set forth in the Administrative Rules of Montana Title 24, Chapter 159, Subchapter 12, Rule 22 or ARM 24.159.1222. Must have demonstrated ability to work and engage in diverse working environments within and outside the Department.
