Dixon School Food Service Director/Cook in Dixon, Montana

Plans and directs the preparation and serving of all school food (Breakfast in the Classroom, school lunch, snack program, and other nutrition related programming).Supports school culture efforts by encouraging students to: Be ready, responsible, respectful and safe. Creates menus for community communication such as the school website and newsletter. Collaborates and communicates with school staff when planning, preparing, documenting, evaluating and implementing the school nutrition program.Stays current on the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Montana Team Nutrition Professional Standards found on the Montana Office of Public Instruction website.Stays current on required trainings including but not limited to: Food handling and preparationSummer foods and breakfast in the classroomFarm to Schools programmingSchool wellnessStaff selected professional growth opportunitiesResponsible for securing food, supplies, and revenues through state and federal reporting and seeking opportunities for grant funding.Supervises and participates in the preparation and service of food meeting the flexible needs of a school environment.Trains and supervises substitute cooks, school staff and temporary cooking staff/volunteers (required on occasion for special events, summer program, etc.) in the safe and proper use of kitchen equipment, meal preparation, delivery, and cleaning/sanitation in all related food service environments (classroom, outside, field trips, etc.). Ensures that all equipment in the kitchen and cafeteria area are in safe, working condition and notifies the custodian and/or principal when repairs are needed.Assists in planning and preparing snacks and meals for school activities and events.Responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety in the kitchen, cafeteria and other relevant spaces.Oversees and participates in the cleaning of the kitchen and related food service areas.Responsible for receipt, inventory and storage of food shipments to the school.
