Description

JOB SUMMARY

The position is responsible for directing, managing, supervising, and coordinating the activities and operations of the Mountain View Co-op (MVC) agronomy location. The LM must maintain a positive and cooperative attitude that promotes teamwork, integrity, honesty, and helpfulness. They must embrace and exhibit MVC’s philosophy and culture of customer service.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to the Agronomy Division Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and maintain a positive customer service experience.

  • Establish and maintain a positive experience for MVC customers, clients, and vendors, through professional interpersonal interactions.

  • Supervise, plan, coordinate, and direct the work of the assigned location.

  • Make staffing decisions including hiring, firing, discipline, performance evaluation, and scheduling.

  • Promote, sell, support, and implement a “Whole Crop Production” agronomy department philosophy with respect to crop nutrients, crop protection products, seed, and services.

  • Work with agronomy management in developing and implementing marketing plans and sales programs for producers.

  • Assist in competitive market analysis to maintain margins for MVC, to include but not limited to, retail and service pricing.

  • Implement reporting and control methods.

  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of all product information, merchandise, promotions, and advertisement.

  • Respond to and initiate necessary sales communication in a timely and effective manner.

  • Keep current on MVC’s products and services.

  • Report for duty in a fit condition, complying with the location dress code and acceptable personal hygiene.

  • Provide feedback to Managers.

  • Practice and encourage workplace safety and hold employees accountable to practice workplace safety.

  • Other duties as assigned.

     

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Knowledge and understanding of:

  • Supervisory principles and practices

  • Principles and methods of program development, implementation, and promotion

  • Safety rules, procedures, and practices

    Ability to:

  • Establish effective working relationships with the General Manager, Division Manager, Human Resource Manager, Chief Financial Officer, co-workers, subordinates, and the general public.

  • Maintain time, cost, and material records and prepare comprehensive reports.

  • Plan, organize, prioritize, supervise, direct, and evaluate the work of assigned staff.

  • Prepare accurate and reliable reports containing findings, recommendations, and technical documentation.

  • Operate a personal computer using word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications appropriate to assigned duties.

  • Operate a smartphone.

  • Use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or verbal instructions.

  • Perform a wide variety of supervisory and public relations tasks with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.

  • Quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and technology.

  • Meet challenges with resourcefulness through original thinking and creativity.

  • Communicate effectively with others in both technical and non-technical terms.

  • Drive to meetings year-round within the state of Montana.

  • Work the varied hours required of the position during peak seasons.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

     

    Education/Experience/Training:

  • High School diploma or GED and

  • Five (5) years of Agronomy and Agricultural experience

  • Two (2) years of Supervisory experience

    License/Certification:

  • Valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Montana

    Essential Physical Abilities:

  • Clarity of speech and hearing that permits the employee to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

  • Manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate a personal computer, files, and equipment.

  • Personal mobility that permits the employee to enter, operate, and exit motor vehicles.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

  • Ability to walk, stand, and reach for the duration of the shift.

  • Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, climb, and navigate tough terrain.

    Working Conditions:

  • Work is generally performed in an office environment.

  • Travel in and outside the County to attend meetings etc. in all weather conditions.

  • Must drive and sit for extended periods of time.

  • Various noise levels are present in the work environment, from low to moderately loud.
