State of Montana GIS/Emergency Management Technician in Fort Harrison, Montana

GIS/Emergency Management Technician /MT DES is the lead agency coordinating comprehensive emergency management. Our vision is to create a disaster resilient Montana./ Looking for an opportunity to grow your skills in Emergency Management and GIS? Spend the summer gathering data for disaster mitigation projects. You will have the opportunity to collect data and apply it to disaster mitigation. These mitigation projects will target critical infrastructure that are affected as a result of disasters. You will also use your data to develop maps that reflect the benefit of risk reduction. You will also have the opportunity to develop a variety of GIS products and perform data searches and retrievals. There are six openings in this announcement, and this is Short Term work, not to last more than 90 work days. Essential Functions - Mitigation Project: Identification and building an online GIS Mapping data base Tasks for this position will also include: * Assisting in the design, development, testing and implementation of GIS applications * Developing and maintaining GIS databases * Keeping track of utility information received from various sources and perform data conversion from field survey and record documents All requested application materials must be submitted and marked as "relevent" in order to be considered. * *Education: * Degree or course work in: GIS, Environmental Planning, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience: * Must have a valid drivers license * Required: Arc Map, Arc GIS Pro * Required: Previous knowledge of reading and interpreting Engineering plans and designs * Preferred: Python programming skills and GPS skills Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Other Requirements: * * must be able to pass a pre-employment background and driving record checks /Anticipated travel is 25% of the time with travel per diem. This is a Fair Labor Standards Act Non-Exempt position, meaning all hours worked over 40 hours in a work week is calculated at time and a half and paid as overtime.
