Ensures the highest quality standards of food and beverage service are met for guests, the company, and the National Park Service. A Bar Manager is to ensure all Bar staff member s are providing the appropriate service as indicated by the guest in the most efficient manner without sacrificing the quality the restaurant and lounge are aiming to present. Daily guest service in a teamwork oriented environment with attention to detail is expected along with frequent lifting, bending, kneeling, and a high volume of movement. This position is to, simultaneously, function as a member of the Bartending staff and take on the responsibility of the outlet’s successful operation by ensuring the proper product is available, the proper techniques are being implemented, and the proper precautions are being taken to avoid valuable product loss. Bar Managers must also assist in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary in line with the overall success of the outlet, location, and company.

  1. Perform all duties toward the goal of providing excellent guest service in an efficient manner.

  2. Works in tandem with the Food and Beverage Manager and Dining Room Managers to foster a positive, reciprocal, and beneficial relationship between the Lounge and Dining Room outlets.

  3. Develop, troubleshoot, and handle weekly scheduling responsibilities for all Lounge staff members.

  4. Perform a physical count of all inventory items at the end of each season.

  5. Perform an accurate inventory on all food and beverage items at the end of the last week of every fiscal period. (Mid-period inventories may also be required.)

  6. Observe, monitor, provide corrective action, and follow-up in all areas of the operation on a daily basis.

  7. Maintain and continually develop working relationships with beverage vendors.

  8. Establish seasonal par levels with all vendors appropriate with business levels and available storage space.

  9. Organize and maintain cleanliness of liquor, beer, and wine storage areas.

  10. Responsible for all product procurement in regards to operating supplies needed in the Lounge.

  11. Accurately record and enter all food and beverage items in to the POS system; pick up, garnish, and serve food and beverages promptly to guests; collect and process forms of payment; ensuring guest satisfaction throughout.

  12. Knowledge of all menus: specials, features, food, and beverages.

  13. Knowledge of general guest information.

  14. Maximize sales by using menu knowledge and suggestive selling techniques.

  15. Offer and serve alcoholic beverages while adhering to established Xanterra alcohol policies.

  16. Ensure a reasonable effort is made in preventing a guest from becoming intoxicated.

  17. Conduct themselves in a professional manner with the awareness that most actions and communications are within guest view. Ensure a congenial atmosphere for all.

  18. Maintain cleanliness of lounge and service areas. Ensure work area is orderly and properly stocked.

  19. Complete assigned duties within each shift.

  20. Responsible for collecting accurate payment from the guest and depositing the exact amount of sales.

  21. Responsible for the secure handling, use, and balancing of an assigned cash bank.

  22. Responsible for declaring 100% of cash tips after tip-out to any other job positions.

  23. Maintain appearance and uniform standards.

  24. Develop and maintain positive communication and teamwork with all co-workers and supervisors.

  25. Handle all guest service issues in an immediate and professional manner.

  26. Participate in the ordering of supplies from the warehouse.

  27. Participate in weekly inventories as scheduled.

  28. Follow Company and departmental environmental practices to minimize wasted energy and resources.

  29. Follow Company and departmental safety practices to minimize risk to self and others.

  30. Follow Company and departmental policies and procedures.

  31. Bartenders must also assist in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary in line with the overall success of the outlet, location, and company.

  32. Participate in Manager on Duty Program as necessary.

  33. Comprehensive, working knowledge of industry standard drinks, recipes, and preparation methods.

  34. Lifting, balancing, and carrying service trays.

  35. Ability to organize and prioritize under pressure while maintaining a calm and pleasant demeanor.

  36. Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, and supervisors.

  37. Ability to absorb large amounts of information quickly: service procedures and standards, multiple menus, floor plans, point of sale system.

  38. Certification in the TIPS alcohol awareness program is required. Workshops will be provided if not currently certified.

  39. Ability to work as part of a team. Will be asked to help other team members as necessary.

  40. Must be committed to the food and beverage standards learned during the training period.

  41. Must be organized, efficient with movement and time, and have an eye for detail.

  42. Knowledge of company policies and procedures, willingness to comply with both.

  43. Ability to relate with guests in a courteous and friendly manner. Must be able to handle guest concerns in a professional and tactful manner.

  44. Must be friendly and courteous in dealing with guests and co-workers.

  45. Working knowledge of all positions supervised.

  46. Working knowledge of all equipment used within the Lounge operation.

  47. Knowledgeable of all procedures and policies used within the food and beverage operation and Company.

  48. Ability to creatively problem solve and select appropriate courses of action.

  49. Ability to organize and prioritize workload and follow-up with specific timelines.

  50. Ability to communicate in a positive, efficient manner and hold individuals accountable for their responsibilities.

  51. Working knowledge of computers including Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

  52. Knowledgeable of all beverage menus and item specifications.

  53. Basic knowledge of sanitation procedure for front and back of house employees.

  54. Knowledgeable of Micros Simphony point-of-sale system and server banking.

  55. Ability to effectively communicate with employees, co-workers, and corporate management.

  56. Ability to motivate and foster a positive work environment.

  57. Ability to communicate in a positive, efficient manner and hold individuals accountable for their responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.

  2. Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Frequent lifting and carrying of supplies, materials, and equipment throughout the day.

  3. Must be able to bend, stretch, and reach for extended periods of time.

  4. Working safely with required chemicals.
