AEM - HEAD START Center Based Teacher in GLASGOW, Montana
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education; or Child Development Associate (CDA); or ability to obtain a CDA within one year of employment as a teacher, and work toward the completion of requirements to obtain an AA or BA degree in Early Childhood Education within three years of hire
- One year of classroom teaching in a developmentally appropriate classroom
- Knowledge of various service resources in the community
- Extensive knowledge of Early Childhood Development, basics of supervision, and state and federal regulations pertaining to child abuse and neglect
- Ability to relate well to, communicate, and coordinate with staff members and with children/families of low income and varied backgrounds
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, bend, stoop, sit on floor and other activities as they pertain to working with preschool aged children
- Willing to create an individual Career Development Plan
- Ability to take initiative and keep all information on families strictly confidential
- Ability to pass a finger print background check and drug test
- Supervisory experience is preferred
- Experience teaching in a preschool program and/or working with children in a preschool setting, and using early childhood methods and techniques is preferred
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Plan, implement and supervise all classroom activities
- Provide high quality, individualized education to Head Start children in a center-based environment
- Serve as a social service referral person and shares the responsibility for parent involvement in the program
- Gather and analyze data and make concise, accurate reports to designated staff
- Train Assistant Teacher and Aide in providing a developmentally appropriate classroom setting for Head Start children
Full-time, seasonal position, working 40 hours per week. Will work 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday, on days school is in session, August - May.
