Agronomy Sales Intern - Glendive, MT
This experienced internship is the best way to expand on previous agronomy and crop scout internships. The sales internship is a n opportunity to build your sales and business development skills within the retail ag riculture industry. With the sales and product t raining provided , interns are responsible for conducting plant micronutrient testing, executing product trials, and analyzing results with experienced agronomists. Interns will be active identifying w eeds, diseases, and insects affect crop yields - and will take it a step further by conducting sales calls with customers to discuss crop management recommendations.
Internships are offered in a variety of locations through our member cooperatives, retailers, and independent owner system. Interns will be provided training through WinField United and the working location is dependent on those of our member owners.
Position Duration: May - August (start and end dates flexible)
Location: Glendive, MT
Inspect assigned grower fields to identify weed s , insect s, diseases, pest and crop population counts, crop and weed staging and other crop diagnostic issues.
Utilize crop scouting software/weekly reports to document and share observations with partnered field agronomist.
Keep current on agronomic products, trends, and precision ag riculture technologies.
Provide support for operations and warehouse staff as needed.
Responsible for shadowing sales calls throughout assigned territories to determine agronomy needs, learn how to create solutions and build long term relationships with customers that will generat e sales of seed, fertilizer, agriculture chemicals and agronomy services.
Assist with planning of test plots for demonstrations of improved crop varieties and to use as a n additional sales tool.
Position Competencies and Qualifications:
Completed a previous crop scout internship or relevant experience.
Pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in an agriculture related major or program.
Frequently move, lift and carry boxes, tubs, and tools weighing 50-60 lbs., access and utilize farm equipment, and move or traverse on uneven ground.
Ability to work extended hours during peak busy seasons.
Possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license and have and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
Excellent communication, writing and critical thinking skills.
Manage time and effectively prioritize and implement projects and general work tasks.
Give and receive feedback, work collaboratively, exhibit effective social and interpersonal communication skills.
Resourceful and innovative in finding solutions to problems.
Flexible and adapt to changing business surroundings.
