Glendive Medical Center Pharmacist in Glendive, Montana

The Pharmacist will dispense medications per provider's orders utilizing a review process to ensure the safe use of medications. He or she will work harmoniously with the medical teams using critical thinking skills to help foresee possible complications in a patient's current care and help resolve current issues.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages daily pharmacy operations, oversees pharmacy technician's functions, provides insight with managing inventory, manages medical dispensing devices used by nursing staff.

  • Instructs pharmacy interns in preparation for their graduation or licensure.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs DUR's up to and including correct dosage, route of administration, drug allergies, drug-food interactions, contraindications, cost effective approach, policy, and formulary adherence.

  • Collaborates with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics. Analyzes prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.

  • Documentation of clinical activities and interventions where needed.

  • Maintains pharmacy compliance to medication storage throughout the facility including security of controlled drugs.

  • Performs admixtures and compounding per USP 795, 797, and 800 requirements.

  • Maintains records such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.

  • Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.

  • Collaborates with GMC providers to offer specialized services patients such as diabetes, asthma, smoking cessation, or high blood pressure. Participates in health promotion and prevention activities within GMC and the community.

  • Aids in ordering pharmaceutical supplies and medical supplies to keep a functional and efficient inventory.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Analytical thinking to interpret things such as drug interaction screening.

  • State and federal regulations.

  • Verbal communication including medical terminology.

  • Ability to give sound judgement.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to balance competing priorities.

    Education and Experience:

  • Must have graduated from an accredited College of Pharmacy.

  • Current Pharmacist license.

  • Hospital experience, or PGY-1,2+ preferred

    Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Prolonged periods of standing and bending.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

  • Repetitive movements.
