Glendive Medical Center Respiratory Therapist (RT) in Glendive, Montana

The Respiratory Therapist works with providers, nurses, and ancillary departments to provide quality care for patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly. The Respiratory Therapist will work proficiently in the inpatient and outpatient areas, including diagnostics with cardiopulmonary testing.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

    Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assesses and consults with Providers to develop and implement a care plan specific to the needs of the patient with breathing disorders and cardiopulmonary diseases.

  • Delivers and assesses responses to ordered therapy; monitors, records, and communicates outcomes to the Provider.

  • Performs cardiopulmonary diagnostic testing in outpatient setting.

  • Inspects, tests, and operates respiratory therapy equipment

  • Responds to Emergency codes and calls for immediate assistance.

  • Maintains continuing education requirements set forth by the State of Montana Licensing Board.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  • Ability to adjust workload to meet department demands, and time management constraints.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

    Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.

  • Successful completion of the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) CRT and/or RRT exam(s) or eligible to take the exams and have passed within 18 months of hire required.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

    Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required

  • Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association, recommended

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association, recommended

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) American Academy of Pediatrics, recommended
